Unite to develop together
In a spacious house worth over 1 billion VND, Mr. K'Krai, M'Nong ethnic group, Dak Nia commune, Gia Nghia city, was very excited to share about the dramatic change of his family. Although he had 5 hectares of fields, he used to only earn enough to eat. In 2010, when the commune implemented the new rural construction program, he was able to study good and effective farming models. After studying, he immediately started working. At this time, he had access to preferential capital sources. The coffee and durian growing model gradually took shape and brought in increasingly higher income. Now he is a well-off household in the village and commune.
"I saw Kinh households growing coffee and durian, and I really wanted to do it. Then I decided to do it and now I've succeeded. In general, people in my village learn from Kinh people to do business very effectively," said Mr. K'Krai.
In 2020, Gia Nghia city was the first district-level unit of Dak Nong province to reach the national target program on new rural construction with 2/2 communes meeting the standards.
Having just sold a Dona durian garden of more than 1 hectare, his face still holding a smile of a bumper crop, Mr. K'Sung, M'Nong ethnic group, head of Ting Wel Dom hamlet (Dak Nia commune, Gia Nghia city) happily shared that he had sold 17 tons of durian at 60,000 VND/kg, this year his family earned more than 1 billion VND.
The head of Ting Wel Dom village shared that the village has more than 350 households, nearly 40% of whom are M'Nong people, the rest are mostly Kinh people. Thanks to their diligence in production and learning from and exchanging experiences with each other, the lives of the villagers are increasingly improving, with many households becoming well-off. Everyone is very united, close-knit, and helps each other to develop together.
"In the past, the lives of the villagers were still difficult, but recently, thanks to the attention of the Party and the State, the villagers have actively learned and exchanged experiences with each other about new and effective methods of agricultural production such as growing coffee, pepper, and durian, so now their lives have stabilized," Mr. K'Sung shared.
Mr. Ksrai, M'Nong ethnic group, Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Dak Nia commune, said that after 20 years since the re-establishment of Dak Nong province and the establishment of Gia Nghia city, from a purely agricultural commune, Dak Nia commune has had remarkable changes. Thanks to the preferential policies of the Party and State and the attention and investment of authorities at all levels, the infrastructure, electricity, roads, schools and stations of the commune have been increasingly improved.
Along with that, people have access to preferential policies on loans, seedlings, and livestock, so production is increasingly effective. In particular, the solidarity and consensus of the people have helped the commune successfully complete its economic and social goals.
Gia Nghia City today has been striving for higher goals with the determination to build economically stable rural areas rich in identity.
Thanks to that, in 2020, Dak Nia commune was recognized as meeting new rural standards. The Party Committee, government, and people of the commune are striving to meet advanced new rural standards by the end of 2024 and to meet model new rural standards by the end of 2025.
"The Party, the State, and authorities at all levels pay attention to and invest in many very practical policies for the development of the commune. Along with that, the people of all ethnic groups in the commune are always united, unanimous, active, hard-working, producing, learning good models and good practices to help improve their lives and economy," said Mr. Ksrai.
Building new rural areas rich in identity
Along with economic development, in the construction of new rural areas, the commune of Gia Nghia city also pays special attention to preserving and promoting traditional cultural values. The space of gong culture is preserved by people in each village, building gong teams for many ages, from old to young, to have inheritance and promotion.
In addition, the city also builds projects to help villagers form traditional brocade weaving villages, wine making villages, and build community tourism villages.
Passing through the villages of Gia Nghia city, there are asphalt and concrete roads, many houses are built spaciously.
Ms. Quan Thi Ngoc, Vice Chairman of Dak Nia Commune People's Committee, said: "The commune is carrying out the task of developing tourism, and has also received support from the Department of Culture and Information, the City, and support for infrastructure for carbon. Besides, we also maintain two traditional occupations: brocade weaving and wine making."
Gia Nghia City has 2 communes, 6 wards, 64 villages, hamlets, and residential groups. In implementing the new rural construction program, the Party Committee and the Gia Nghia City government always determine that, along with the State's resources, it is necessary to mobilize the people's strength and have the people's consensus. In the process of implementing projects and programs, the Party Committee and the local government practice democracy and transparency, following the motto "people know, people discuss, people do, people inspect". Therefore, the majority of people have responded to the program with practical actions, suitable to their capabilities.
Mr. Do Tan Suong, Chairman of Gia Nghia City People's Committee, affirmed that he had mobilized the people's strength to gradually build economically stable, culturally rich and affectionate rural areas in the city.
