If Lang Festival in Thu Tri Commune (Song Lang Commune, Vu Thu District, former Thai Binh Province) is famous for its traditional wrestling that is still passed down to this day, becoming an indispensable spiritual food for local people, then the Traditional Festival of Ong Xa Nhu Quynh Pagoda (Tan Quang Commune, Van Lam District, former Hung Yen Province) is associated with the story of Zen Master Tu Dao Hanh.
The festival preserves many rituals such as: Flag-waving ceremony, King Ly Than Tong procession and old folk games. In particular, the flag-waving ceremony is very unique, no other festival in Hung Yen province still preserves it.
For the folk knowledge of raising and processing Dong Tao chicken in Hoan Long commune (Dong Tao commune, Khoai Chau district, old Hung Yen province), it is demonstrated through the selection, breeding, and care of the precious chicken breed famous for its big, rough legs but is a popular specialty, especially during Tet.
Dong Tao chicken is included in the National Intangible Cultural Heritage List in the category of folk knowledge.
Dong Tao chicken can be processed into many dishes such as: chicken skin with rice powder, steamed chicken with mushrooms, chicken feet stewed with Chinese herbs... Many localities are having a movement to raise Dong Tao chicken because it is easy to raise and has high economic efficiency. Some countries such as England, Japan,... are also planning to import this type of chicken for research and development in the local market.
Thus, up to now, Hung Yen province has 27 national intangible cultural heritages listed by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism.
The province also clearly identified that preserving and promoting the value of cultural heritages to contribute to socio-economic development, focusing on tourism development in the current period is extremely necessary, at the same time successfully implementing Resolution No. 13-NQ/TU dated October 8, 2021 of the Provincial Party Committee on the Program to preserve and promote the value of cultural heritages and historical relics associated with tourism development in Hung Yen province in the period of 2021-2025, with a vision to 2030.
