On the afternoon of August 29, Ha received her doctorate with distinction from Professor Nguyen Huu Tu, Principal of Hanoi Medical University. She was also the valedictorian of the 2019-2025 course and achieved the title of excellent performance throughout the course.
Six years ago, Ngo Thu Ha, a former student of Hung Vuong High School for the Gifted ( Phu Tho ), led the national B group in the 2019 national high school exam with two 10s in Chemistry and Biology and 9.8 in Math, and was also the valedictorian of Hanoi Medical University.
Previously, Ha was the valedictorian of the specialized Math class in grade 10. She was passionate about Math and won many awards such as the second prize in HOMC, the silver medal in the exchange of excellent students from specialized schools in the coastal region - the Northern Delta, and two consecutive years of winning the first prize in the excellent student competition at the provincial level.

Becoming valedictorian in both entrance and exit is considered "very rare" at Hanoi Medical University. Sharing with reporters of Nguoi Lao Dong Newspaper , Ha expressed her emotion and gratitude, saying that this is not only a joy but also a motivation and responsibility to continue to strive, worthy of the trust of teachers, family and friends.
A representative of Hanoi Medical University said that for decades, Ha is one of the few cases who was both the valedictorian of the high school graduation exam and the valedictorian of the graduation exam.
Ha is considered by her lecturers to be an excellent student, outstanding in all aspects, a rare case of both good academic performance and high training scores. This achievement requires not only talent but also perseverance and constant effort.
Doctor's dream from a high fever
Sharing about her aspiration to become a doctor, Ha said that it was a dream she had cherished since childhood, originating from a time when she had a high fever and was treated by a doctor during her lunch break.

Despite being the valedictorian of the country, Ha still encountered many difficulties in her early days of university because the learning method was different from that of high school. Joining the Active Learning Student Club, Ha realized that studying in groups helped her learn faster when members could share and support each other according to their own strengths.
Ha also applies the "active recall" method, which is after reading, she closes the book and presents the knowledge according to her memory until she has mastered it. With the goal of getting a good degree, she maintains her study efforts from the first year until the end of the course.
Because of the large amount of medical knowledge, Ha often reviews using flashcard applications on her phone, helping her to recall knowledge at all times.
She also uses Anki software and maintains a study group to support and supplement each other's knowledge. Thanks to that, Ha is always in the top group in terms of scores and has received many scholarships from schools and businesses.

Not only is she good at her major, Ha also has a DELF B2 French certificate (equivalent to level 4/6). As the first student to graduate from the innovative training program with many strict requirements, her stable performance is a very remarkable result.
However, Ha still persisted in applying the study method from the first year and took advantage of every gap to review.
Ha often takes advantage of evening shifts to visit patients, monitor symptoms and treatment processes, while practicing clinical skills and accumulating practical experience.
"No one in my family works in the medical field, but they always support me to become a doctor. I pursue this career not only because of the reputation of Hanoi Medical University, but also because of my love for the profession," Ha shared.

Continue to conquer the residency exam
The last two years of university were the most stressful period, when Ha had to study a large amount of knowledge, do clinical work, be on duty at the hospital, and at the same time review all the subjects to prepare for the residency exam - the toughest challenge for medical students and also her long-cherished dream. Ha set a goal of being in the top 50 to have the opportunity to choose her favorite major.
"I consider this a path that every doctor must go through, whether they want it or not, so the only way is to try their best to achieve the goal" - Ha shared.
Next September, Ngo Thu Ha will be the only student out of more than 1,000 graduates of this class of Hanoi Medical University to be honored as the 2025 Valedictorian of Hanoi City at the Temple of Literature - Quoc Tu Giam.
