The only high school male student won first prize in the national world office informatics competition

Among the 6 national first prizes of the World Office Informatics Championship - Viettel 2025, Nguyen Thai Son - Le Hong Phong High School for the Gifted (Ninh Binh) is the only high school student, the rest are all university students.

On July 8, at the University of Posts and Telecommunications Technology, the Central Committee of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union in coordination with the IIG Vietnam educational organization held the closing ceremony and national award ceremony of the World Office Informatics Championship - Viettel season 2025.

The ceremony honored and awarded six national champions, of which Nguyen Thai Son - Le Hong Phong High School for the Gifted ( Ninh Binh ) was the only high school contestant to win first prize in MOS PowerPoint 365 Apps.

The remaining five champions come from universities, including: Do Hai Long - Academy of Posts and Telecommunications Technology, first prize in MOS Word 365 Apps; Luong Son Tung - Foreign Trade University, first prize in MOS Excel 365 Apps; Vuong Thu Huong - Vietnam Maritime University, first prize in MOS Word 2019; Nghiem Thi My Linh - Vietnam Maritime University; Nguyen Minh Duc - Hanoi University of Science and Technology, first prize in MOS PowerPoint 2019.

These will be six representatives of young Vietnamese IT talents competing in the world finals of the MOS World Championship 2025 taking place from July 27 to 30 in Orlando, Florida, USA. The Vietnamese MOS team will compete with the best candidates from nearly 100 countries and territories.

At the ceremony, the organizing committee also honored and awarded 18 second prizes, 30 third prizes, 72 consolation prizes and 6 promising prizes along with many prestigious awards for individuals and groups with high achievements in the competition.

According to the organizers, this year's season recorded nearly 2,000 excellent candidates selected from 230 teams from universities, colleges, secondary schools, and high schools nationwide competing in the national qualifying round.

After the national qualifying round, the results showed a breakthrough in the quality of contestants this season with nearly 90% of contestants achieving 700 points or more - the standard score for the international MOS computer science exam currently being applied in more than 150 countries and territories around the world.

This year continues to record a sharp increase in the number of candidates achieving a perfect score of 1,000 with 178 students, including students at secondary school level.

Of the 150 best candidates nationwide selected to compete in the national finals, 98 were in the high school category (more than half), many of whom came from the midlands and mountainous regions of the North, the Central Highlands and the Mekong Delta.

Vietnam is in the top 10 strongest teams in the world

The MOS World Championship is an international competition for students aged 13-22 on a global scale to find and honor the world's best IT talents in office application skills. The competition has been organized annually by Certiport Corporation (USA) since 2002.

In Vietnam, 2025 is the 16th year the competition has been launched and organized nationwide. The Vietnamese team's record at the MOSWC world finals to date includes 21 medals (4 gold medals, 4 silver medals, 13 bronze medals) and has been in the top 10 strongest teams in the world for the past 10 years.
