According to the report at the meeting, so far, the Cuban side has responded to the invitation, stating that the Minister of the Cuban Revolutionary Armed Forces will attend the 80th Anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day on September 2 in Hanoi . Laos and Cambodia also said they support the policy of sending forces to participate in the parade at the Anniversary at the invitation of the Vietnamese side.
The Vietnamese Ministry of National Defense's invitation to five countries to send troops to participate in the parade at the Anniversary Ceremony is an activity demonstrating the traditional friendship, solidarity and attachment between the Vietnamese people and Army with traditional friendly countries, while affirming Vietnam's foreign policy of independence, self-reliance, multilateralization, diversification, and being a friend and reliable partner with all countries.
Previously, on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification Day (April 2025), at the invitation of the Vietnamese Ministry of National Defense, the Ministries of National Defense of China, Laos, and Cambodia sent soldiers to participate in the parade.
On the same day, Senior Lieutenant General Hoang Xuan Chien also chaired a meeting with agencies and units to deploy the construction of a monument to soldiers from countries who helped Vietnam in the resistance wars at the Vietnam Military History Museum. This is an important project, aiming to commemorate and show gratitude to experts and soldiers from countries who helped Vietnam in the resistance wars for national liberation.
Accordingly, the memorial includes: A common symbol of the help and sacrifice of military experts from various countries, made of bronze, created by Vietnam; a bronze monument to military experts from the Soviet Union/Russian Federation, China, Laos, Cambodia, and Cuba, designed and constructed by the countries, or constructed by Vietnam at the request of each country; a monolithic green stone relief designed and constructed by Vietnam. The project is surrounded by green trees and grass.
Senior Lieutenant General Hoang Xuan Chien requested to speed up the construction progress of the project, completing the first cluster of statues before August 15, the entrance area and the central campus, where the statues are displayed, must be completed before August 10.
