At 8:00 p.m. on August 27, the State-level preliminary rehearsal for the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day, September 2, took place, but from early morning, thousands of people from all over poured into the streets around Ba Dinh Square to watch the parade.
People sat with umbrellas on the sidewalk of Tran Phu street since 6am.
They brought tarpaulins, folding chairs, small tents, food and drinks... ready to sit and wait until evening to watch the parade.
“My family came early in the morning. It was raining but everyone was still happy, everyone was eager to see the parade with their own eyes. This is a rare opportunity for children and grandchildren to feel the historical atmosphere,” said Ms. Nguyen Thi Hong (in Ninh Binh ).
“The rain did not discourage us. Everyone prepared raincoats, hand fans and a few folding chairs. Sitting in the middle of the crowd, listening to everyone singing 'As if Uncle Ho was here on the great victory day', I felt very proud and excited. This is an unforgettable experience,” said Ms. Ngo Thi Duc (from Hai Phong ).
Authorities strictly regulated traffic, erected barricades and stretched ropes along the sidewalks to ensure safety. Many vehicles were forced to turn around when approaching the roads leading to the Square.
For the past two days, Hanoi has been experiencing heavy rains day and night, causing many streets to be flooded and traffic to be congested. However, people from all over the country still flock to the center of the capital, immersing themselves in the historic atmosphere of the 80th anniversary of National Day.
Despite the crowds, people still kept order, lined up and actively maintained public hygiene.
Before entering the preliminary rehearsal, the military and police forces practiced four times at the National Military Training Center 4 (Mieu Mon) and twice at Ba Dinh Square.
The preliminary rehearsal will include the armed forces, the mass marching, standing and military equipment, special vehicles. In addition, the military from countries such as Russia, Laos, Cambodia, etc. will also participate in the rehearsal. At the same time, in the area in front of My Dinh Stadium, 15 105mm ceremonial cannons will also be fired.
According to the forecast of the Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, on the day and night of August 27, the weather in Hanoi will be cloudy with moderate rain, heavy rain and thunderstorms, locally very heavy rain, gradually decreasing in the afternoon. Southeast to east wind level 2-3. Lowest temperature 24-26°C, highest 27-29°C.
Specifically, from 7-13 o'clock, Hanoi has rain, moderate rain, probability of rain 80-85%, temperature 25-28°C.
From 13-19h, this area sometimes has showers, probability of rain 55-65%, temperature 26-28°C.
From 7:00 p.m. on August 27 to 7:00 a.m. on August 28, Hanoi will have rain at times, with a 50-60% chance of rain, and temperatures of 27-31°C.
