Officers and rangers of Quan Son Forest Protection Department inspect the forest in Trung Ha commune.

In nearly 8 months of 2025, Quan Son Forest Protection Department coordinated with functional units and communes to propagate forest protection and fire prevention and fighting on village loudspeakers 700 times; through village and commune meetings, there were 103 meetings with 70,000 participants. Coordinated with the Na Meo International Border Gate Border Guard Station to organize 1 conference to propagate forest protection (BVR), forest fire prevention and fighting (PCCCR) with 40 participants. Coordinated with the Youth Union of Quan Son and Son Thuy communes to organize 2 mobile propaganda sessions on forest protection and PCCCR with 60 participants.

The Forest Protection Department has stepped up propaganda against illegal logging, trading, transportation, business, and processing of forest products. Accordingly, in nearly 8 months of 2025, the department coordinated with the commune authorities and State forest owners (formerly Quan Son district) to conduct 400 forest security inspections with 2,106 participants, detecting, arresting, handling, and preventing a number of violations of the Forestry Law.

Head of Quan Son Forest Protection Department Le Kim Du said: From the beginning of 2025, the department has advised the Party committees and authorities of the communes to issue sufficient and timely documents directing the Party committees, authorities at the grassroots level, departments, branches, agencies and units in the area to implement Conclusion No. 61-KL/TW dated August 17, 2023 of the Central Party Secretariat on continuing to implement Directive No. 13-CT/TW dated January 12, 2017 of the Secretariat on strengthening the Party's leadership in the management, protection and development of forests; guiding documents of the Government and the province on protection and development of forests, and forest fire prevention and control. Coordinate with relevant units to organize training conferences to propagate and disseminate forestry laws in conjunction with mobilizing the community to build a model of fire source management to ensure safety in and around the forest. Advise the commune authorities to improve and build self-managed inter-family groups for forest protection at the grassroots level, with special attention to key areas at risk of forest insecurity. Coordinate with relevant agencies to manage 617.37 hectares of land planned for old swidden cultivation in 3 Mong ethnic villages in Na Meo and Son Thuy communes. Focus on propaganda combined with inspection, control, and strict handling of violators of forestry laws.

Typically, at the Na Meo Forest Ranger Station under the Quan Son Forest Ranger Department, there are 4 officers and forest rangers assigned to manage and protect over 28,962 hectares of forest in the communes of Na Meo, Muong Min, and Son Dien. Through discussions, it is known that the communes managed by the station have many ethnic minorities living there, a high rate of poor households, and people's income mainly depends on the forest, while the forest ranger force is still lacking compared to the assigned quota. To perform the task well, in addition to advising the commune authorities to proactively protect the forest at the root, the station has arranged appropriate human resources and proactively coordinated with relevant agencies and units in the area to implement many synchronous solutions, focusing on propaganda, patrolling, inspection, control and handling of violators of the Forestry Law...

Thanks to good propaganda work, it has contributed to ensuring forest security; violations of the Forestry Law have been detected and handled promptly, people's awareness of forest protection and development has been raised, and forest security in the area has been maintained. Since the beginning of the year, the number of violations of forestry laws in the area under the management of Quan Son Forest Protection Department has decreased compared to the same period. Accordingly, in the first 8 months of 2025, Quan Son Forest Protection Department has inspected, detected and handled 12 violations of the Forestry Law, collecting more than 109 million VND for the budget. The entire forest area under the management of the department has been well cared for, protected and developed, with the current forest coverage reaching 89.25%.

In fact, the benefits from the forest development investment policy are still low, not commensurate with the effort, and not meeting the minimum income of forest workers, but the community still actively participates in forest protection. That proves that the propaganda and socialization of forest protection and development in the area have brought positive results. Forest resources are managed and protected sustainably, promoting the protective function, protecting biodiversity, creating environmental landscapes, water sources for the upper reaches of Lo River and Luong River, supplying water, retaining water, regulating water and protecting irrigation works.
