On the afternoon of July 3, the football world was shocked by the news that Liverpool star Diogo Jota had passed away at the age of 28 in a traffic accident, leaving behind his wife and three young children.
The accident happened in Zamora (Spain) at 0:30 (local time) on the A52 highway. The player's younger brother, Andre, also a professional player, was also involved in the accident.
According to witnesses, Jota's Lamborghini lost control and went off the road before bursting into flames. The victims in the car did not survive.
