Meritorious Artist Kieu Minh Hieu, Director of the Vietnam Drama Theater, said that with the role and mission of an art unit under the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the Vietnam Drama Theater mobilized creative resources to simultaneously create two works of art, contributing to the country's important anniversary.
According to Meritorious Artist Kieu Minh Hieu, the joint staging of the musical “Banh Mi Cafe” is a special activity, demonstrating the cooperative relationship between Vietnam and Korea, aiming to spread messages about the culture, people and history of the two countries through images and stage language, thereby enhancing the relationship between the two countries in artistic exchange and cooperation, contributing to bringing to the public plays with good and truly meaningful messages.

The art program “Uncle Ho, an immense love” by authors Le Trinh – Ly Nguyen Anh, directed by Meritorious Artist Trinh Mai Nguyen, includes two short plays “Chi Tin’s family story” and “The South in Uncle Ho’s heart”, expressing his immense love for the Vietnamese people.
In which, “Story of Ms. Tin’s house” is a story about Uncle Ho’s visit to a poor family in Hanoi on New Year’s Eve, 1962. No matter what position he was in, Uncle Ho always thought of the people, always wished for them to have a warm, happy spring. The story in the short play is a testament to his immense love.
The short play “The South in Uncle Ho’s Heart” expresses Uncle Ho’s special affection for his fellow countrymen in the South through the story of Uncle Ho and the heroine Tran Thi Ly and the soldiers of the South. During the years of the resistance war against the US, when the country was divided into two parts, the longing for the fellow countrymen in the South was always in Uncle Ho’s heart.

The musical “Banh Mi Cafe” is a work produced by the Vietnam Drama Theater in collaboration with Metaforce Vietnam Company Limited, with the participation of many Vietnamese and Korean artists. The work reflects the bustling atmosphere of the days before the August Revolution of the Vietnamese people.
“Banh Mi Cafe” is based on the original script by Seo Sang Wan with the collaboration of author Le Trinh. Director Cho Joon Hui collaborated with People's Artist Hoang Lam Tung to stage the play. The production team also included Lim Chung Il (stage designer), Kim Sung Il (choreographer), musician Tuan Nghia (Vietnamese songs), Park Huyn Woo (Artistic Director), and Meritorious Artist Kieu Minh Hieu (Artistic Director).

The play has a realistic social context of Vietnam during the painful war years and praises the patriotic people. Despite facing countless difficulties and hardships, the Vietnamese people still maintained their faith in victory and refused to submit to any oppression from the enemy. The indomitable spirit of the Vietnamese people in the August Revolution of 1945 is a beautiful expression of patriotism and solidarity, thereby gaining independence and freedom and affirming the indomitable will in the struggle for national liberation of the Vietnamese people.
Producing a musical - a relatively unfamiliar art form for artists of the Vietnam Drama Theater - is a bold decision by the Vietnam Drama Theater as well as its partners. However, director Cho Joon Hui, artistic director Park Huyn Woo, scriptwriter and music director Seo Sang Wan said that they have enjoyed many of the theater's works, especially plays on historical themes, and found Vietnamese artists to be very talented and promising. Through the process of cooperation, the artists from Korea have more confidence in the creative team and Vietnamese actors to successfully produce this meaningful work.
