More than 700 athletes compete in the 2025 student basketball tournament

More than 700 athletes from secondary schools, high schools, universities, colleges and basketball training centers in Hanoi competed in the student basketball tournament (GMB League 2025).

On July 9, the organizing committee officially launched the Student Basketball Tournament: VietnamEducation Electronic Magazine Cup 2025 (GMB League 2025). This is a professional and systematic sports playground, organized for the first time on an inter-level scale, gathering nearly 50 men's and women's teams and more than 700 athletes from junior high schools, high schools, universities, colleges and basketball training centers in Hanoi.

Speaking at the press conference, Mr. Nguyen Tien Binh, Editor-in-Chief of Vietnam Education Electronic Magazine, Vice President of the Association of Vietnamese Universities and Colleges, Head of the tournament organizing committee, said that athletes are supported with sports insurance, medical care, ensuring safe competition and peace of mind. This is an effort to demonstrate the professionalism and humanity that the tournament aims for in its organization.

Mr. Nguyen Tien Binh, Vice President of the Association of Vietnamese Universities and Colleges, Head of the Organizing Committee, shared about the purpose and meaning of the award.

Mr. Dinh Duc Manh, Deputy General Secretary of the Vietnam Basketball Federation, affirmed: "The tournament was organized methodically, professionally, and systematically. This is a very new and promising start, opening up many playgrounds for young people to learn, exchange and practice basketball skills."

This is the first basketball tournament in Vietnam to apply a cross-level model from U15, U18 to U23. Not only outstanding in scale, the tournament also pays special attention to the rights and health of athletes.

The tournament will last from July to September 2025, aiming to develop physical fitness, improve spiritual life, teamwork skills and solidarity in the student community. At the same time, the tournament contributes to building a civilized and healthy sports environment, promoting the movement of physical exercise and sports among young people.

This year’s tournament aims to discover, nurture and develop young basketball talents, and at the same time act as a bridge between training units, schools and sports centers. The tournament is a summer of passion, opening the door for young athletes to develop comprehensively in terms of physical, mental and social skills.
