Late on July 9 ( Hanoi time), Ms. Linda Yaccarino announced on X that she is no longer the CEO of this platform. “After two incredible years, I have decided to step down as CEO of X,” she began her farewell post.
Without giving a reason for leaving, the former leader said she felt proud of what she and her team had accomplished in the past. The achievements mentioned by Ms. Yaccarino included prioritizing user safety, regaining advertiser trust, creating Community Notes and X Money.
“Thank you for your contributions,” Musk briefly commented under the farewell post.

The CEO’s departure comes months after Elon Musk spun off X to xAI, his artificial intelligence company. The move merges two closely related entities, both owned by the billionaire. But it leaves Linda Yaccarino’s future in doubt, with her role unclear.
Ms. Yaccarino was previously the chief marketing officer of NBCUniversal. The CEO took over the role in June 2023, when it was still called Twitter. She was brought in to fix the platform’s declining advertising business, which was being shunned by companies.
During this time, X achieved many successes. Their concurrent users gradually returned, peaking on the day of the 2024 US presidential election. Revenue also gradually stabilized as the platform was cleaned of fake news and fake accounts. However, Yaccarino's role was unclear when Elon Musk was still a symbol of social networks, active in activities.
The billionaire calls himself the Chief Technology Officer of X, leading the product team.
CNN said that Yaccarino's departure coincided with complicated developments with the businesses under Musk's leadership. His deep involvement in politics affected Tesla. At the same time, Musk's ability to lead many companies at the same time was also questioned. Before Yaccarino, Tesla's Chief Manufacturing and Operations Officer Omead Afshar also resigned.
