Tourism industry determined to "Join forces - Choose locations - Accelerate" to make Vietnam become Asia's leading destination

On the afternoon of July 9, in Hanoi, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism (MCST) held a direct and online conference with 34 provinces and cities across the country to evaluate the results of tourism activities in the first 6 months of the year and deploy key tasks for the last 6 months of 2025. The conference was chaired by Mr. Nguyen Van Hung - Member of the Party Central Committee, Minister of MCST. Attending the conference at the Khanh Hoa bridge point were leaders of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Nha Trang - Khanh Hoa Tourism Association.

According to the report of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, in the first 6 months of 2025, Vietnam welcomed nearly 10.7 million international visitors (up 20.7% over the same period in 2024, reaching 48.6% of the annual plan), 77.5 million domestic visitors (up 8.5%, reaching 64.5% of the plan). Total revenue from tourists reached about 518 trillion VND, equivalent to 52.8% of the annual plan.

In Khanh Hoa alone, the whole province welcomed about 6.2 million visitors (up 20.8%), including more than 2.6 million international visitors (up 12.3%), tourism revenue is estimated at more than 31,000 billion VND, up 19.1% over the same period in 2024.

Regarding the direction in the coming time, Director of the Vietnam National Tourism Administration Nguyen Trung Khanh said that the tourism industry will focus on advising on perfecting institutions in the direction of "development creation"; researching and advising on the issuance of "breakthrough policies and mechanisms" on visas, immigration, tax policies, expanding aviation connections; continuing to orient tourism development towards depth, quality, professionalism, sustainability, branding, building unique products that bring truly unique and impressive experience values ​​to tourists; effectively implementing coordination mechanisms, operating regulations, regional and inter-regional action plans in tourism activities, strengthening tourism linkages with related industries; restructuring the tourism market in line with Vietnam's potential and advantages; promoting public-private cooperation, mobilizing domestic and international social resources to invest in tourism development; Strengthening security and safety for tourists, creating a cultural, civilized, friendly and hospitable tourism environment; continuing to innovate both the content and methods of promoting and positioning the national tourism brand; developing a database system, digital platforms connecting information systems to serve policy making and state management and administration, and serving domestic and international businesses and tourists; orienting the development and diversification of the system of competitive enterprises, participating deeply in the global tourism supply chain.

Speaking at the conference, Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Nguyen Van Hung emphasized: The Government and the Prime Minister are very interested in tourism development and affirmed that tourism is a bright spot in the country's socio-economic picture in recent times, acknowledging the efforts of localities, and emphasizing the guiding viewpoint of the Government leaders when operating the two-level local government is to avoid disruptions in direction and operation activities and to strive to complete the goal of welcoming 22-23 million international visitors, 120-130 million domestic visitors, contributing to the GDP growth target of over 8% in 2025 and double-digit growth in the coming period. To do this, the Minister said that there must be a new approach, strengthening connections, instead of developing in a narrow space, it is necessary to create open spaces, creating truly unique products with strong cultural identity. The Minister emphasized that tourism must not only be a key economic sector but also inspire, touch the hearts of tourists, and arouse their inspiration to attract and retain tourists. Accordingly, the entire industry must be determined to follow the motto "Join forces - Choose a destination - Accelerate" to make Vietnam become a leading destination in Asia.
