Reporting on the results of tourism activities in the first 6 months of the year and implementing key tasks for the last 6 months of 2025, Director of the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism Nguyen Trung Khanh said that with unified, consistent and drastic leadership and direction, of the Government, the Prime Minister , the timely and effective intervention of the entire system political system, together with the solidarity and efforts of the business community Inheriting the results achieved in 2024, the tourism industry has been active, proactive, and creative in implementing tasks and solutions and has achieved outstanding results. With good growth momentum from the beginning of the year, the number of domestic and international tourists continues to achieve high growth rates, and awareness of the spillover effects of the tourism industry in the economy has changed positively.
Tourism continues to be a bright spot contributing positively to the country's socio-economic development in the first 6 months of 2025.
Of which, the number of international tourists to Vietnam in the first 6 months of 2025 reached nearly 10.7 million, an increase of 20.7% over the same period in 2024; reaching 48.6% compared to the 2025 Plan (22 - 23 million visitors); The total number of domestic tourists in the first 6 months of 2025 reached 77.5 million, an increase of 8.5% over the same period in 2024; reaching 64.5% compared to the 2025 Plan (120 - 130 million visitors). Total revenue from tourists in the first 6 months of the year is estimated at about 518 trillion VND; reaching 52.8% compared to the 2025 Plan (980,000 - 1,050 trillion VND).

In the first 6 months of the year, the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism has advised the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism to issue and proactively issue many documents directing the tourism sector of localities to actively prepare conditions to welcome and serve tourists, strengthen management, organize stimulus programs, promotions... before peak tourist seasons.
Tourism activities nationwide continue to flourish. The number of domestic tourists maintains a growth rate; the number of international tourists increases at many destinations. Room rates and tourism services do not have many major fluctuations. Security, order, environmental sanitation, and food safety at destinations are guaranteed. Tourism activities nationwide are vibrant and safe...
"That result is a testament to the right and timely direction of the tourism industry in restructuring the tourist market, orienting product development, effective promotion and advertising both on the ground and on digital platforms, and the positive effects of the new visa policy, including the role of state management by the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism and local State Departments of Tourism," Director Nguyen Trung Khanh said.
Regarding tourism product development, with the direction of the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism and the initiative of localities and the cooperation of businesses, many attractive tourism products have been created, promoting the needs of entertainment, shopping, and sightseeing of tourists during the peak of the New Year and Lunar New Year holidays of At Ty 2025; April 30 and May 1 holidays and Summer 2025.

In addition, in the first 6 months of 2025, promotion and advertising activities continued to have positive changes with many new models, creative methods, in a modern direction, applying digital technology, associated with culture - art - cinema, focusing on countries with comprehensive strategic partnerships such as China, Korea, Japan, the US, Australia, Russia, France... along with a series of programs introducing Vietnamese tourism at festivals, cultural events, tourism, international tourism fairs abroad in accordance with the spirit of Resolution No. 82/NQ-CP dated May 18, 2023 of the Government and Directive No. 08/CT-TTg dated February 23, 2024 of the Prime Minister.
The linkage to support development between localities has been implemented more synchronously and practically, contributing to creating a spillover effect on neighboring localities.
According to Director of the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism Nguyen Trung Khanh, in order to create a breakthrough for the tourism industry to enter a new era - an era of wealth, civilization and prosperity, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism and the entire tourism industry will focus on implementing key tasks and solutions in the coming period, including:
Firstly, advising on perfecting institutions in the direction of "development creation": amending the 2017 Tourism Law and legal documents to create favorable conditions for business operations and facilitate management; promoting administrative procedure reform, simplifying licensing procedures for tourism businesses.
Second, research and advise on the issuance of "breakthrough policies and mechanisms": coordinate with the Foreign Affairs and Public Security sectors to advise and propose expanding visa exemption policies, simplifying entry and exit procedures to facilitate attracting international visitors; coordinate in advising on the development and issuance of appropriate tax policies, especially on land tax for tourist areas, import tax on hotel equipment, entertainment, and tourist transport vehicles; coordinate with the Aviation sector to propose expanding connections with international markets; with the Agriculture and Railway sectors to effectively exploit agricultural tourism and railway tourism.
Third, continue to orient tourism development towards depth, quality, professionalism, sustainability, and branding: build high-end resort tourism products, health care tourism, agricultural tourism and regional specific products, eco-tourism, adventure tourism, medical tourism, culinary tourism, etc. with the scope of world destinations based on distinct potential, outstanding opportunities, national competitive advantages associated with promoting heritage values and national cultural identity; improve the quality of high-class tourism services, bring truly unique and impressive experiences to tourists; orient the development and diversification of the system of competitive enterprises, deeply participating in the global tourism supply chain.
Fourth, promote the effective implementation of coordination mechanisms, operating regulations, regional and inter-regional action plans in tourism activities. Focus on linking the tourism industry with other industries in the value chain, enhancing the competitiveness of Vietnam Tourism associated with green and sustainable development and the motto "taking the tourist experience as the center".
Fifth, restructure the tourism market in line with Vietnam's potential and advantages, respond to global trends and adapt to fluctuations in the world tourism market. Review, quickly recover, and firmly consolidate the growth drivers of the industry; research and find new growth drivers with much room to grow, suitable for the new context.
Sixth, promote public-private cooperation, mobilize domestic and international social resources to invest in developing tourism infrastructure and facilities, and improve competitiveness in logistics costs and human resources.
Seventh, direct and orient the tourism industry in localities to strengthen security and safety for tourists, focus on environmental sanitation and food safety; create a cultural, civilized, friendly and hospitable tourism environment.
Eighth, continue to innovate both in content and implementation methods, harmoniously combine state resources and social resources in promoting and positioning the national tourism brand; focus on promoting according to key campaigns, in line with the development orientation of tourism products and brands.
Ninth, develop database systems and digital platforms connecting information systems to serve policy making, state management, and serve domestic and international businesses and tourists.
Tenth, orienting the development and diversification of the system of competitive enterprises, deeply participating in the global tourism supply chain./.
