Germany is ready to welcome Vietnamese students to study under the dual degree training program.

(Chinhphu.vn) - Vice President of the German Parliament Bodo Ramelow said many German universities are ready to welcome Vietnamese students to study in the form of joint ventures and joint training with Vietnamese universities.

On July 2, at the German Parliament Headquarters, VicePresident Vo Thi Anh Xuan had talks with Vice President of the German Federal Parliament Bodo Ramelow.

Pleased to welcome Vice President Vo Thi Anh Xuan at the German Parliament, Vice President of the National Assembly Bodo Ramelow shared that he has great affection for the country and people of Vietnam, has had the opportunity to visit Vietnam many times and always wishes to promote the Vietnam - Germany strategic partnership.

Thanking Vice President of the National Assembly Bodo Ramelow for the reception of the high-ranking Vietnamese delegation, Vice President Vo Thi Anh Xuan affirmed that Vietnam always highly appreciates Germany's leading role and position in Europe and the world. This year, the two countries celebrate the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations and nearly 15 years of the establishment of the Strategic Partnership (since 2011), which is an opportunity for both sides to review and assess the positive development of bilateral relations in all areas and move towards bringing cooperation to a new stage.

The Vice President suggested that the two sides continue to promote delegation exchanges at all levels, through all channels of the Party, State, Government and National Assembly, effectively implement existing cooperation mechanisms and strengthen coordination at international forums, such as the United Nations and the ASEAN-EU framework. The Vice President suggested that the German Parliament continue to support the promotion of Vietnam-EU relations; consider and soon ratify the EVIPA Agreement to create new momentum for trade and investment cooperation between the two countries; and voice support for the European Commission (EC) to soon remove the IUU "yellow card" for Vietnam's seafood exports. The Vice President also hoped that Germany would continue to provide ODA support to Vietnam, especially in areas such as infrastructure, energy transition, climate change response, etc.

Agreeing with the proposals of Vice President Vo Thi Anh Xuan, the Vice President of the German Parliament said that the German Parliament is currently forming a group of parliamentarians interested in developing relations with Vietnam, including parliamentarians from different parties. The Vice President of the German Parliament highly appreciated the Vietnamese community in Germany as good citizens, making positive contributions to the local socio-economic life, receiving special affection from the German people. Community holidays are enthusiastically supported by local people. Therefore, the two countries need to increase people-to-people exchanges, thereby promoting connections between businesses, localities, cooperation in education, culture, tourism, etc. Many German universities are ready to welcome Vietnamese students to study in the form of joint ventures and joint training with Vietnamese universities.

The two sides also agreed to strengthen cooperation in the field of defense and security and at multilateral forums; shared views on the complicated developments of the current regional and world situation, and agreed that the two countries need to promote cooperation to maintain peace, stability and sustainable development in the world.

* On the same day, Vice President Vo Thi Anh Xuan met with Co-Chair of the German Left Party Ines Schwerdtner.

Welcoming Vice President Vo Thi Anh Xuan to visit the German Left Party Headquarters, Ms. Ines Schwerdtner informed about the recent developments of the Left Party, including the doubling of the number of Party members in just over a year. The President of the Left Party affirmed that the Communist Party of Vietnam and the German Left Party have a long-standing good traditional relationship and wish to further promote this relationship; at the same time, she hopes to receive the experience sharing of the Communist Party of Vietnam in Party building and development, improving the capacity to mobilize the masses and combating the extremist trend that is increasingly popular in European politics.

Congratulating the German Left Party on its recent achievements, Vice President Vo Thi Anh Xuan said that the German Left Party has been closely following and listening to the practical aspirations of the people, and has received increasing support from the people. The Vice President expressed her delight at the positive developments in the relationship between the Communist Party of Vietnam and the German Left Party.

The Vice President shared with the Chairman of the German Left Party some information about the recent achievements, guidelines and policies for national development of the Vietnamese Party and State, and positive developments in the Vietnam-Germany relationship; and suggested that the two sides increase the sharing of theoretical and practical experiences, making positive contributions to peace, cooperation, stability and sustainable development in the region and the world.

The Vice President also asked the German Left Party to speak up, urging the German Parliament to soon ratify the EU-Vietnam Investment Protection Agreement (EVIPA), and urging the European Commission to soon remove the IUU "yellow card" for Vietnamese seafood exports. Party Chairwoman Ines Schwerdtner agreed with the Vice President, and affirmed her support for facilitating the successful integration of the Vietnamese community in Germany into the host country, contributing to the development of relations between the two countries.

The two sides highly appreciated the current Policy Dialogue mechanism between the two Parties and believed that it is necessary to further strengthen exchanges between the two Parties, establish new exchange channels in addition to organizing the 6th Policy Dialogue session in the fourth quarter of 2025. The two sides also discussed a number of regional and international issues of mutual concern; emphasizing the need to resolve disputes and conflicts by peaceful means on the basis of international law, contributing to maintaining peace, stability and development in the region and the world./.
