Promoting Culture and Crafts with Environmental Message in Brunei

The Vietnamese Embassy in Brunei organized a cultural exchange activity to introduce some traditional Vietnamese literary and hand-embroidered art works.

ISB students and international friends actively welcome Vietnamese literary works and cultural research.

In order to promote cultural diplomacy and promote the image of Vietnam, on the afternoon of July 2, the Vietnamese Embassy in Brunei coordinated with the International School Brunei (ISB) to organize a cultural exchange activity to introduce some traditional Vietnamese literary and hand-embroidered art works.

At the event, the Embassy presented a number of Vietnamese literature and cultural research books to the ISB library, including famous literary works translated into English such as Diary of a Cricket by writer To Hoai; I see yellow flowers in the green grass and Ticket to childhood by writer Nguyen Nhat Anh.

Ambassador Tran Anh Vu expressed his hope that ISB students and international friends would actively welcome Vietnamese literary works and cultural research, as well as films successfully adapted from the above-mentioned literary works.

Within the framework of the program, ISB lecturers and 30 students from grades 7 to 12 of many nationalities experienced traditional Vietnamese hand embroidery techniques and decorated products with unique patterns of the H'Mong ethnic group under the guidance of Ms. Le Thi Hong Ngoan - Ambassador's wife, Ms. Maisarah Nguyen - Founder of Rattan House handicraft enterprise and Ms. Pham Thu Phuong, representative of the Vietnamese community in Brunei.

30 students from grades 7 to 12 of various nationalities experienced traditional Vietnamese hand embroidery techniques.

With the message of promoting traditional handicrafts associated with environmental protection, the materials used at the event are all of natural or recycled origin, including old newspapers, used plastic bottles, dried grass, etc. Ms. Le Thi Hong Ngoan and the tour guides said that in the coming time, they will continue to research and explore natural materials in Brunei to combine them in Vietnamese handicraft products, as well as contribute to cultural exchange activities between Vietnam and Brunei.

ISB currently has about 1,400 students and teachers of many nationalities.

ISB is a prestigiouseducational institution in Brunei Darussalam with a history of over 60 years of operation. The school currently has about 1,400 students and lecturers of many nationalities, with modern facilities and an international standard curriculum.

ISB leaders expressed their hope that in the future, more Vietnamese students will participate in training programs at the school, as well as that there will be more cooperation and exchange activities between ISB and educational institutions in Vietnam.
