Celebrating the 80th Anniversary of the Establishment of the Vietnamese Diplomatic Service in Qatar: Connecting the Community, Fostering Friendship Between the Two Countries

The celebration is not only an occasion to pay tribute to the tradition of revolutionary diplomacy, but also an opportunity to strengthen community ties.

The Vietnamese Embassy in Qatar held a ceremony to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the establishment of the diplomatic sector.

On August 29, the Vietnamese Embassy in Qatar solemnly held a ceremony to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the establishment of the Vietnamese Diplomatic Service (August 28, 1945 - August 28, 2025) with the participation of Embassy staff, representatives of the Vietnamese community in Qatar and representatives of a number of local press and media agencies.

Speaking at the ceremony, Ambassador Nguyen Huy Hiep reviewed the glorious 80-year tradition of Vietnamese diplomacy - a courageous and resilient diplomacy, closely linked to the nation's historic victories in the struggle for independence, national reunification and the cause of innovation and international integration. The Ambassador emphasized that this precious tradition is the foundation for Vietnamese diplomacy to continue to promote its "frontline" role in the current cause of national construction and defense.

Ambassador Nguyen Huy Hiep also reviewed the positive developments in the friendship and multifaceted cooperation between Vietnam and Qatar.

Since the establishment of diplomatic relations (1993), the two countries have achieved many important results in trade, investment, education and culture. In particular, the official visit to Qatar by Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh in October 2024 opened a new phase of cooperation, with the determination to develop bilateral relations in a substantive, comprehensive and sustainable manner.

In that general picture, the Vietnamese community in Qatar is affirmed to be a “direct and lively bridge” between the two nations, always promoting the spirit of solidarity, preserving national cultural identity and looking towards the Fatherland. This is also a valuable resource contributing to promoting the image of Vietnam to local friends.

Regarding citizen protection work, the Ambassador emphasized: "Although the Embassy has only 6 staff members, citizen protection work is always considered a top priority task."

The Embassy regularly updates and forecasts the situation in the area, promptly reports and makes recommendations to domestic authorities; at the same time, maintains close contact with businesses employing Vietnamese workers to grasp the situation and prepare handling plans when situations arise.

Not only protecting rights, the Embassy also accompanies the community in building a rich spiritual life. Through the Community Liaison Committee, many bonding activities have been organized, such as the Homeland Spring Program, celebrating the traditional New Year, and cultural and sports exchanges. These events help people preserve traditions and strengthen solidarity and mutual support in their lives abroad.

Mr. Nguyen Trung Hieu, Head of the Liaison Committee of the Vietnamese community in Qatar, spoke on behalf of the Vietnamese community.

At the end of his speech, Ambassador Nguyen Huy Hiep expressed his belief that the Vietnamese community in Qatar will continue to promote the spirit of solidarity and mutual assistance, and at the same time become a bridge to promote friendship between the people of the two countries.

On the occasion of the upcoming 80th anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day September 2, the Ambassador called on people to join hands to arouse national pride, affirm the will to rise up and continue to make practical contributions to the development of the homeland and the country.
