The 2025 Asian Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) Youth Championships will take place from August 27 to 31 in Manama, Bahrain, organized by the Asian Mixed Martial Arts Association (AMMA). This is the first continental-level youth championship organized by the Asian Mixed Martial Arts Association, under the recognition of the Olympic Committee of Asia (OCA).
Trieu Thu Thuy is the only Vietnamese MMA athlete to win at the 2025 Asian Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) Youth Championship.
The Vietnamese delegation participated with 8 members including 3 coaches and 4 athletes including: Nguyen Dinh Huy (65kg men's traditional MMA); Lang Quoc Cuong (55kg men's), Vuong Tri Hai (50kg men's) and Trieu Thu Thuy (45kg women's) MMA in the modern MMA category. The goal of the Vietnamese athletes is to win at least 1 medal in the first time the tournament is held.
In their first appearance in the continental arena, young Vietnamese athletes were unable to create a miracle when Vuong Tri Hai, Lan Quoc Cuong and Nguyen Dinh Huy all had to stop in the Quarterfinals.
After a series of round-robin matches, the only female representative Trieu Thu Thuy won against athlete Abbasnezhad Aylin (Iran) in the final match, winning the only bronze medal for the Vietnamese Youth MMA team at this tournament. With Thu Thuy's bronze medal, the Vietnamese team has completed the set target.
This is also considered one of the important preparation steps of Vietnamese MMA for the next goals. The Vietnam Mixed Martial Arts Federation has participated in the activities of the Asian Mixed Martial Arts Association since its inception. In 2023, at the Asian Mixed Martial Arts Championship, the Vietnamese delegation sent 4 athletes to compete and all won medals (1 gold, 1 silver, 2 bronze), ranking 4th overall out of 19 participating countries and territories.
The 2025 Asian Mixed Martial Arts Youth Championship is part of the Asian Mixed Martial Arts Association's regional MMA development program. Along with this tournament, AMMA also organized a mixed martial arts referee and coach development program from August 25 to 27. The Vietnam Mixed Martial Arts Federation sent 2 coaches and 2 referees to participate with the goal of improving professional skills and integrating with international and regional trends.
