The Vietnamese Embassy in Korea solemnly celebrated the 80th anniversary of National Day, September 2nd.

Over the past 80 years, Vietnam has overcome countless challenges to become a dynamic developing country, deeply integrated with the world.

In the heroic atmosphere towards the National Day celebration on September 2, on the evening of August 29, the Vietnamese Embassy in Korea solemnly held the ceremony to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution, the National Day of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam and the 33rd anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Korea (1992-2025).

This year's ceremony was attended by Mr. Park Yoon Joo, First Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Korea, and nearly 800 guests including representatives of the Presidential Office, the Prime Minister's Office, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of National Defense , and many other Korean ministries and agencies.

Also attending the ceremony were Ambassadors, Chargé d'Affaires, Heads of international organizations in Korea; Consul General of Vietnam in Busan, representatives of friendship organizations, localities, corporations, and large enterprises of Korea; representatives of the Ly Hoa Son family and representatives of enterprises, Party cells, associations, and a large Vietnamese community in Korea.

Speaking at the ceremony, Vietnamese Ambassador to Korea Vu Ho said that President Ho Chi Minh reading the Declaration of Independence at Ba Dinh Square on September 2, 1945, giving birth to the Democratic Republic of Vietnam, now the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, was a sacred moment, opening an era of independence and freedom for the Vietnamese people, affirming the strong aspiration to rise of a peace-loving, resilient and indomitable nation.

Ambassador Vu Ho emphasized that the ideologies of Vietnam and Korea have converged in the common aspiration of building a peaceful, humane and everlasting country. Over the past 80 years, Vietnam has overcome countless challenges to become a dynamic developing country, deeply integrated with the world, with the goal of becoming a developed, high-income country by 2045.

Regarding the relationship between the two countries, Ambassador Vu Ho affirmed that the Vietnam-Korea relationship is one of the most special partnerships. Since the official establishment of diplomatic relations in 1992, the two countries have made many remarkable strides. The upgrade to Comprehensive Strategic Partnership in 2022 has opened a new chapter, laying the foundation for the two countries to move towards the vision of 100 years of Vietnam (2045) and 100 years of Korea (2048) in companionship and sharing.

The Korean proverb “neighbors are cousins” reflects the close and close relationship between our two peoples. Vietnam always attaches importance to and strengthens the comprehensive strategic partnership with Korea; emphasizing that in addition to the well-developed areas of cooperation in politics - security, economy, people-to-people exchange and international cooperation, the two countries will continue to promote expansion into new areas such as digital economy, innovation, high technology, clean energy, etc.

On this occasion, Ambassador Vu Ho expressed his deep gratitude to the Government, people and partners of Korea, who have always accompanied, supported and actively contributed to the relationship between the two countries; at the same time, thanked the Vietnamese community in Korea, who always strive to preserve cultural identity, promote patriotic traditions and contribute to fostering the Vietnam-Korea friendship.

Ambassador Vu Ho affirmed that, "in the 80-year journey of the Vietnamese people and 33 years of Vietnam-Korea relations, we have the right to be proud of the achievements, and at the same time have the responsibility to join hands to foster an even brighter future."

In his congratulatory speech on the 80th anniversary of Vietnam's National Day, First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Korea Park Yoon Joo emphasized the historical significance of September 2, 1945 and the birth of the Democratic Republic of Vietnam, opening a new journey for the nation. Vietnam has risen to become one of the most dynamic and fastest growing economies in the world.

At the same time, Vietnam is also implementing key reforms to drive innovation and sustainable growth. On Vietnam’s journey to becoming a modern industrialized nation by 2030 and a high-income country by 2045, Korea will continue to be a trusted partner accompanying Vietnam for common prosperity and sustainable development.

The year 2025 is of great significance in the bilateral relationship, especially right after the State visit to Korea by General Secretary To Lam - the first State Guest of Korean President Lee Jae Myung (August 10-13). On this occasion, the Vietnamese Embassy in Korea introduced to Korean and international friends the important milestones in Vietnam's 80-year development journey and important achievements in the cooperative relationship between Vietnam and Korea.

At the ceremony, guests enjoyed many traditional Vietnamese and Korean music performances, an elegant Ao Dai performance by representatives of the Vietnamese Women's Association in Korea, and some traditional Vietnamese dishes.

These performances left a deep impression on the hearts of Korean guests and friends. Vietnamese cuisine also contributed to enriching the cultural experience, captivating many guests with the flavors and variety of traditional dishes.

The 80th National Day celebration marked the beginning of many cultural activities, notably the Cultural Festival of the Vietnamese community in Korea, the football tournament of the Vietnamese Association in some Korean localities...
