'AIPA Roadshow in Vietnam' helps raise awareness of young generation about ASEAN and AIPA

On the morning of August 25 at the National Assembly House of Vietnam (Hanoi), the program "AIPA Roadshow in Vietnam" was solemnly organized by the Committee on National Defense, Security and Foreign Affairs, the Standing Committee of the Young National Assembly Deputies Group in coordination with the Secretariat of the ASEAN Inter-Parliamentary Assembly (AIPA).

Attending the event were Party Central Committee member, Deputy Head of the Central Policy and Strategy Committee, Chairman of the Young National Assembly Delegates Group Nguyen Anh Tuan; AIPA Secretary General Siti Rozaimeriyanty Dato Haji Abdul Rahman; members of the Young National Assembly Delegates Group; Secretary of the Central Executive Committee of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union Nguyen Tuong Lam; Deputy Head of the Youth and Children's Affairs Committee, Central Committee of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union Lam Tung; representatives of the National Assembly Office; outstanding youth/students from universities in Hanoi.

This is the first time that AIPA Roadshow has been held in Vietnam. The event is part of a series of activities under the AIPA Master Communication Plan for the period 2018 - 2025 and the AIPA Strategic Plan 2023 - 2030 organized by the AIPA Secretariat in coordination with member parliaments to raise awareness of the younger generation about ASEAN and AIPA, targeting young people, university students and outstanding young faces.

The AIPA Roadshow was first held at Indonesian universities in December 2023 and will continue to be implemented in other Southeast Asian countries including Cambodia, Laos, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam in 2025.

Through dialogue, exchange and sharing activities with young people, the AIPA Roadshow contributes to spreading the message about AIPA's role in promoting regional cooperation on the basis of parliamentary diplomacy , an increasingly important factor in shaping the common future of ASEAN; at the same time, it helps build a foundation of understanding about the activities of young AIPA parliamentarians, promoting connections between young people in the region.

At the AIPA Roadshow in Vietnam, there were exchange and dialogue sessions between delegates of the Vietnamese National Assembly , the AIPA Secretariat, the Central Youth Union and guests who were Vietnamese youth and students.

Delegates participating in the program affirmed that the organization of the AIPA Roadshow Vietnam aims to demonstrate the active, proactive and responsible participation of the Vietnamese National Assembly in general and young National Assembly deputies in particular in promoting youth participation in ASEAN initiatives and common concerns; at the same time, contributing to raising the understanding and awareness of Vietnamese youth about AIPA activities and the role of young AIPA parliamentarians in parliamentary diplomacy.

After a morning of lively, enthusiastic and creative discussions, the AIPA Roadshow in Vietnam was a great success. The discussions and sharing sessions brought many new ideas, clearly demonstrating the spirit of cooperation, friendship and common aspirations of youth in the ASEAN region.

The Vietnamese side acknowledged and appreciated the Secretariat’s efforts in connecting young National Assembly deputies with young people, creating an open, useful and meaningful forum. The event not only provided an opportunity for the young generation of Vietnam to directly exchange and learn from international friends, but also contributed to affirming the important role of youth in building a united, creative and sustainably developing ASEAN community.
