On the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day September 2, on August 22 (local time), the Vietnamese Embassy in Venezuela coordinated with local press and media agencies to hold a press conference to provide the press and Venezuelan friends with information about the great stature and historical significance of the August Revolution as well as updated information on Vietnam's achievements after 80 years of defending, building and developing the country.
Ambassador Vu Trung My delivered the opening speech at the press conference. |
In his opening remarks, Ambassador Vu Trung My reviewed the important historical milestones since August 19, emphasizing that the core ideology of the August Revolution, under the leadership of President Ho Chi Minh, was national independence associated with socialism. This was not only a political slogan, but also a compass for a unique revolutionary path, both liberating the nation from foreign invasion and moving towards a fair, equal and prosperous society.
According to Ambassador Vu Trung My, world history is a series of stories about the powerful uprising of colonized peoples, from the darkness of oppression to regain their freedom. Revolutions such as the August Revolution in Vietnam and the Bolivarian Revolution in Venezuela are not only military victories but also eloquent evidence of a truth: colonized peoples are completely capable of standing up for themselves, regaining the right to control their own destiny.
At the event, reporters and scholars asked many questions related to the historical significance of the August Revolution, Vietnam's socio-economic development achievements over the past 80 years, especially after nearly 40 years of implementing the Doi Moi policy, international integration and the content of the traditional Vietnam-Venezuela relationship.

Notably, in addition to asking questions, many reporters and scholars also shared information and thoughts about the historical significance of the August Revolution, the impact of this event on the world revolutionary movement as well as the similarities with Venezuela's Bolivarian Revolution.
According to the reporter of Ultimas noticias , the striking similarity between the two revolutions is the central role of the masses. In Vietnam, from farmers, workers to intellectuals, all participated in the resistance, creating the strength of the whole people. In Venezuela, the working class and the poor were the core force in social movements, community organizations and democratic elections. Both were “bottom-up” revolutions, where the people were not just beneficiaries but the creators of history.
Meanwhile, Correo del Orinoco reporter commented that despite different historical and cultural contexts, Vietnam's August Revolution and Venezuela's Bolivarian Revolution have striking similarities.

Both revolutions were built on the foundation of deep patriotism and a strong desire for self-reliance with the ultimate goal of bringing a better life to the people, with justice and equality. In addition, the leaders of both countries realized that to achieve true independence, it was necessary to thoroughly solve social and economic problems.
Referring to the commemorative activities on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day on September 2, a reporter from the Latin American multinational media group (TELESUR) said that recently, TELESUR and Vietnam Television (VTV) had an online meeting to agree on reporting on activities commemorating this important event in Vietnam, including VTV 's rebroadcasting of the military parade on the morning of September 2 in Hanoi; emphasizing that since its establishment (2005), TELESUR has always closely followed, promptly reported, propagated, and spread the image of a heroic Vietnam in the struggle for independence and development in the new era, about President Ho Chi Minh... to help audiences in the Latin American region better understand the country and people of Vietnam.
At the event, reporters and scholars asked many questions related to the historical significance of the August Revolution and Vietnam's socio-economic development achievements over the past 80 years. |
Regarding bilateral relations, Globovision Television reporter affirmed that Vietnam has many grounds to believe in the prospects of cooperation with Venezuela. With the desire and determination from both sides, the dynamism and rapid economic development of Vietnam together with the stability and economic recovery of Venezuela in recent times, along with many untapped potentials, the economic relations between Vietnam and Venezuela will certainly continue to flourish and be raised to a new level, commensurate with the existing good political relations, serving the interests of the people of each country, for peace, stability, cooperation and development in the two countries and the two regions.
