People's Army Publishing House launches book series to celebrate 80th National Day September 2

The book series "Commemorating the 80th Anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day September 2 (1945-2025)" published by the People's Army Publishing House includes 25 titles, affirming the historical value and great stature of the victory that opened the era of independence and freedom; spreading the revolutionary spirit, fostering the will for innovation and creativity, and at the same time being a "weapon" to fight against false and distorted arguments about history, the revolution and the cause of building and defending the Fatherland today.

On August 28, in Hanoi , the People's Army Publishing House chaired and coordinated with the Military Library to launch and introduce the book series "Commemorating the 80th Anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day September 2 (1945-2025).

The book series was compiled, edited and published by the People's Army Publishing House in coordination with functional agencies, authors, groups of authors, and authors' families.

Speaking at the launching ceremony, Colonel Nguyen Van Sau, Deputy Director - Deputy Editor-in-Chief of the People's Army Publishing House, said that the launch of the book series "Commemorating the 80th Anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day September 2 (1945-2025)" contributes to strongly affirming the spirit, historical value and great stature of the August Revolution and National Day September 2, 1945. At the same time, through the book series, the spirit of the August Revolution and National Day September 2 continues to be a great source of motivation urging the entire Party, people and army to promote internal strength, innovate and confidently enter a new era - the era of national development.

According to Colonel Nguyen Van Sau, the book series also has important significance in the fight to refute and defeat the distorted and denied arguments of hostile, reactionary, and opportunistic political forces against the August Revolution, National Day September 2, as well as the current cause of national construction and defense.

The book series “Commemorating the 80th Anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day September 2 (1945-2025)” includes 25 titles, with 3 main sections. The first section is representative works selected from the publisher’s precious archives for reprinting. These are works by exemplary senior leaders of the Party, who are also historical witnesses.

Some of them are “August Revolution” and “From pre-uprising to general uprising” (Truong Chinh), “Following Uncle Ho’s path” (Hoang Quoc Viet), “Arming the revolutionary masses to build the People’s Army” (Vo Nguyen Giap), “Hanoi in August” (Nguyen Quyet), “Two prison breaks” (Tran Dang Ninh)...

Through the memoirs and authentic notes of those who directly contributed to leading, directing and organizing the great revolution 80 years ago, readers deeply feel the days of the boiling atmosphere of the General Uprising, in which each work depicts the image of leader Ho Chi Minh and the Party's leaders with strategic vision.

The second section is specialized, in-depth research works by generals, officers, veterans, scientists, and journalists about the August 1945 General Uprising over time.

The works include “Peace or War” (Tran Van Tra), “The Party’s leadership in building armed forces and armed struggle in the August Revolution of 1945” (Associate Professor, Dr. Tran Trong Tho), “August Revolution of 1945” (Vietnam Institute of Strategy and History of National Defense), “War zones with the August General Uprising of 1945” (Duong Dinh Lap), “The uprising to seize power in Hanoi in 1945 - historical and realistic values” (many authors), “Ho Chi Minh - The leader of the Vietnamese people from the dark night of slavery to the autumn of independence” (Associate Professor, Dr. Vu Nhu Khoi)...

The works help readers gain a clearer understanding of the context, causes, developments, and results, and gain a deeper understanding through assessments, analyses, summaries, and lessons about the stature and historical value of the August Revolution and National Day September 2nd. In particular, they clearly see the talented and wise leadership of the Party and President Ho Chi Minh with the correct decisions that made the great revolution possible.

The third section is works about the August Revolution directly or indirectly through the creativity of literature and art. Typical examples are the novels “Dialogue in the Night” (Nguyen Chi Trung), “Viet Bac Forest” (Le Toan), “Lom” (Son Tung), “Sang mai nong nong lua rung Tran Hung Dao” (Hoang Quang Uyen), the photo documentary book “Nguyen Ba Khoan - historical moments” compiled by journalist Dieu An... These works further confirm that the August Revolution and National Day September 2nd are always great topics, attracting a lot of creativity from artists and writers and having great appeal to readers.

The highlight of the series is the photo book “Vietnam - 80 years from the aspiration for peace to the era of national rise (1945-2025)”. Through carefully collected and selected images with high generality, important highlights, and profound comments, the book contributes to recreating the 80-year historical journey of the Vietnamese people.

At the book launch ceremony, researchers, authors, and the author's family shared about the value of the book series and analyzed outstanding publications.

On this occasion, the People's Army Publishing House and the Military Library in collaboration with Professor, Doctor, writer Trinh Quang Phu introduced the memoir "Following His Footprints" about Uncle Ho's 30-year journey to find a way to save the country.
