At the meeting, Deputy Minister Dang Hoang Giang expressed his delight at the good development of Vietnam-Cambodia relations, especially the fact that President of the Cambodian People's Party and President of the Senate Hun Sen led a high-ranking Cambodian delegation to attend the 80th anniversary of Vietnam's National Day, along with the participation of the Royal Cambodian Armed Forces in the parade at the celebration.
Deputy Minister Dang Hoang Giang highly appreciated the cooperation between the two Ministries of Foreign Affairs , in both bilateral and multilateral frameworks.
Welcoming Cambodia's hosting of the 20th Francophone Summit in 2026, the Deputy Minister expressed his belief that the Conference will be a great success, creating a new mark for Francophone cooperation in the Asia -Pacific , contributing to enhancing the image and position of Francophone members in the region and promoting a dynamic Southeast Asia with rich potential for cooperation. The Deputy Minister affirmed that Vietnam is ready to coordinate and support Cambodia in successfully organizing this Conference.

Deputy Minister Dang Hoang Giang emphasized that Vietnam - the country that initiated Francophone economic cooperation at the 7th Francophone Summit, attaches special importance to cooperation with Francophone countries in the economic field. The Francophone economic space still has much room for Vietnam and Cambodia to promote extensive cooperation, especially in the fields of agriculture, energy, digital transformation, sustainable tourism, science and technology cooperation, innovation, creativity, etc. On that basis, Vietnam hopes that economic cooperation will continue to be one of the contents of interest and promotion at the 20th Summit.
Sun Sovanna, Secretary of State in charge of Francophone affairs at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Cambodia, expressed his pleasure to visit Vietnam in the atmosphere of Hanoi preparing for the 80th National Day celebration. The Secretary of State expressed his impression of Vietnam's development and highly appreciated Vietnam's role, position and commitment at the Francophone forum.
Mr. Sun Sovanna emphasized that Cambodia's hosting of the Summit in 2026 will be an opportunity to reaffirm Cambodia's commitment as well as that of regional members to the values of the Francophone language. Cambodia hopes to receive Vietnam's cooperation and active participation in the preparation work for the success of the Summit.
The 20th Francophonie Summit is scheduled to be held in October 2026 in Cambodia. This will be the second Francophonie Summit to be held in Asia-Pacific after the Summit held in Hanoi in 1997. |
