Over the past 80 years of construction and development, the Diplomatic Service has written glorious pages of history, making important contributions to the struggle for independence and national unification as well as the journey to affirm Vietnam's position and prestige in the international arena. In that journey, today's young generation of diplomats is following in the footsteps of their predecessors, both proud of the glorious tradition and deeply aware of the responsibility to preserve and promote it to continue writing new pages of history.

Inspire pride

In the solemn and sacred atmosphere of the 80th anniversary of the establishment of the Diplomatic sector, the young generation of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has carried out many practical activities to show gratitude to the tradition and continue the values left by previous generations. In particular, the Ministry's Youth Union was assigned many key tasks, contributing to highlighting the mark of youth on the occasion of the anniversary.

Deputy Secretary of the Youth Union of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Ngo Ba Hoang Hai shared that the memorable highlights were the trips back to the source, where the members were present at the Ministry's historical relic site in Tuyen Quang and the Ta Thiet base relic site, along with the Giao Te House ( Dong Nai ). Those "red addresses" are associated with the glorious milestones of the industry, becoming ideal places to nurture, arouse pride and add motivation for the journey to serve the Fatherland.

From the sacred feeling of directly touching historical marks, the youth union members are more aware of their responsibilities today. It is the continuity between the past and the present that motivates young people not only to be grateful for tradition, but also to proactively prepare for the future.

In addition to traditional educational activities, the Ministry’s Youth Union also focuses on fostering professional capacity for young cadres through seminars, sharing experiences and foreign affairs skills. These are practical learning spaces, helping union members improve their mettle, knowledge and necessary skills to meet the requirements of tasks in the new period.

The luggage of the young diplomatic generation

Experiences from the journey back to the source and traditional gratitude activities have become the foundation for the young generation to reflect on themselves in the present. From the lessons of the past, each young diplomat increasingly realizes the need to be fully equipped with qualities and skills to be able to follow in the footsteps of their predecessors in the new period, when Vietnamese diplomacy increasingly affirms its pioneering position in the international arena.

During 80 years of formation and development, the Diplomatic sector has fostered valuable qualities and traditions, which have been continued and promoted by generations of cadres. In the context of deep integration, today's young generation must constantly train to meet the requirements of the times.

Deputy Secretary of the Youth Union of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Ngo Ba Hoang Hai emphasized that, in addition to absolute loyalty to revolutionary ideals, always upholding national interests is the principle that runs through all foreign affairs activities. The young generation also needs to be pioneers, ready to take on difficult tasks and complex work areas, so that "wherever it is difficult, there are young people, wherever there is a need, there are young people".

In the digital transformation era, young diplomats must be more sensitive to political, economic and social developments; know how to apply new technology to effectively carry out tasks. At the same time, cultivating foreign languages, improving professional capacity and analytical and advisory skills are considered the foundation for successfully fulfilling responsibilities in the new period.

Secretary of the European Department (Ministry of Foreign Affairs) Bui Ngoc Khanh Huyen expressed her appreciation for the sharing of former Foreign Minister Nguyen Dy Nien at the 80th Anniversary of the Diplomatic Sector, when he emphasized that the generation of diplomatic staff must always adhere to the path of independence, autonomy, and put national interests above all. She also hopes to contribute her intelligence and youth to building a comprehensive, modern diplomacy imbued with Vietnamese identity as General Secretary To Lam advised.

Khanh Huyen said: “If we want diplomacy to have a weighty voice, the country must have strong strength, because ‘the louder the bell, the stronger the force’”. According to her, the younger generation needs to practice political courage and moral qualities, in parallel with developing professional capacity and digital skills to be ready for new challenges.

It can be said that the combination of strong political will, loyalty, pioneering spirit and professional capacity will be the luggage for the young generation of diplomats to confidently shoulder the mission of following their predecessors, bringing Vietnamese diplomacy firmly into the new era.

Continuing the glorious history

The sense of responsibility and pride of young cadres is not only reflected in promises, but also demonstrated by concrete actions. Secretary of the Youth Union of the Department of Financial Management (Ministry of Foreign Affairs) Truong Minh Hoang shared that although his work is not directly present at the negotiating table, it plays a logistical role in ensuring the material, financial and administrative facilities for all diplomatic activities.

According to him, those working in logistics are the “solid rear” for the diplomatic frontline. Every document, decree or project implemented on schedule, every budget allocated transparently… are practical contributions, though silent but indispensable. That is also the way the younger generation affirms the spirit of service in every task, regardless of position.

The 80th anniversary of the establishment of the industry has become a special milestone, arousing pride and at the same time reminding the younger generation to continue studying and practicing to be worthy of the glorious tradition. As President Ho Chi Minh once advised: “Doing diplomacy is not only about intelligence, but also loyalty, dedication and unwavering belief in the ideal of serving the people”.

Looking back over the past 80 years, we can clearly see the pioneering role of the young generation of diplomats in the journey to affirm the country's position. The major orientations from the Party and State leaders have become the compass for each member to determine their own sustainable direction.

The Youth Union of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs is also implementing many programs and movements to create a training environment for its members: from thematic seminars with the participation of Ambassadors and unit leaders, to the establishment of the “Book Review” Club to encourage reading and research habits. Coordination activities with the Youth Union organizations in ministries, branches, as well as Vietnamese student unions and associations abroad continue to be expanded, contributing to connecting the intelligence and youth at home and abroad.

In the joyful atmosphere of the anniversary, the common feeling shared by many young cadres is pride mixed with a sense of noble responsibility: the responsibility to preserve and promote traditions and continue writing new pages of history for the Diplomatic sector. It is the combination of knowledge, courage, pioneering spirit and aspiration to contribute, so that today's young generation can become solid "bridges", helping Vietnamese diplomacy increasingly affirm its position in the international arena.
