President Luong Cuong receives Head of the Youth Committee of the Liberal Democratic Party of Japan

On the afternoon of August 22, at the Presidential Palace, President Luong Cuong received Congressman Nakasone Yasutaka, Head of the Youth Committee of the Liberal Democratic Party of Japan (LDP), and a 60-member Youth Committee delegation, including parliamentarians, local parliamentarians, representatives of the private sector, and students, who are visiting Vietnam from August 20-22, 2025.

Speaking at the reception, President Luong Cuong highly appreciated the fact that the Youth Committee of the Liberal Democratic Party of Japan chose Vietnam as one of the first destinations to visit after completing its leadership structure as well as the delegation's rich and meaningful program of activities in Vietnam, including exchanges and meetings with the Group of Young National Assembly Deputies of the 15th tenure, the Central Committee of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union ... The President said that these are important and substantive channels of exchange, contributing to enhancing mutual understanding between the young generations of leaders of the two countries, creating a foundation to promote the Vietnam - Japan Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.

Sharing that after 80 years of development, from a poor, backward, war-torn colony with no name on the world map, Vietnam has become an important member of the ASEAN bloc, a bright spot in the region and the world with socio-political stability, the 32nd largest economy in the world, and an increasingly expanding level of international integration, President Luong Cuong thanked and appreciated the support and contributions of the international community, including Japan, to the socio-economic development, improvement of the investment environment, and completion of Vietnam's legal system; assessed that the Vietnam - Japan relationship is one of the current successful bilateral cooperation models between Vietnam and a number of partners.

Head of the Youth Committee of the Liberal Democratic Party of Japan Nakasone expressed his joy at being able to visit Vietnam again after 8 years and to meet the President with the Youth Committee delegates; emphasized the honor of visiting Vietnam at a historic moment, when Vietnam is jubilantly organizing activities to celebrate the 80th anniversary of National Day; expressed deep admiration for the patriotism and pride in the heroic historical tradition of many generations of Vietnamese people, especially the young generation.

Impressed by the leadership and drastic direction of the Vietnamese Party and State in implementing the reform and innovation process in recent times, the speed of economic development as well as the attractiveness of Vietnam's young population, Mr. Nakasone expressed his expectation and confidence in Vietnam's further development in the coming time; affirmed that he and the members of the Youth Committee will continue to contribute to promoting the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership to develop even more strongly.

President Luong Cuong suggested that the Youth Committee of the Liberal Democratic Party of Japan make efforts to promote visits and contacts between senior leaders, ministries, sectors, parliamentarians, and exchanges between localities of Vietnam and Japan; Japan supports Vietnam in industrializing and modernizing the country, realizing development goals, supporting Vietnamese enterprises to participate more deeply in Japan's supply chain, promoting cooperation in the fields of AI, quantum, semiconductors, connecting human resources, especially high-quality human resources.

Accepting the President's instructions, Mr. Nakasone affirmed that he will continue to promote exchange and cooperation activities between the Liberal Democratic Party of Japan's Youth Committee and young parliamentarians and youth of Vietnam from the central to local levels.

He also emphasized that Japan wishes to promote the implementation of more high-quality ODA and FDI cooperation projects in Vietnam, cooperation in the fields of national defense and security, agriculture, green transformation, digital transformation, semiconductors and cooperation in the contents of the new pillar on science and technology. He affirmed that the Liberal Democratic Party of Japan wishes to create a more favorable living and working environment for the community of more than 600,000 Vietnamese people living and studying in Japan, considering this an important force that has been contributing to Japan's economic and social development.

At the meeting, some delegates also expressed their desire to promote cooperation and connection between localities of the two countries through people-to-people exchanges, investment, tourism cooperation, etc.; affirming close cooperation for the success of "Vietnam Day" at Expo Osaka 2025.
