Ambassador Bui Van Nghi reviewed Vietnam's outstanding achievements over the past 80 years. From a poor and backward country, after nearly 40 years of Doi Moi, Vietnam has risen to become one of the world's top 32 economies, among the top 20 countries with the largest foreign trade, and among the top 15 developing countries attracting the largest FDI with more than 24 billion USD, mainly in high technology and renewable energy.

Vietnam's GDP increased from 6.47 billion USD in 1990 to more than 476 billion USD in 2024, expected to reach 500 billion USD in 2025. Currently, Vietnam has established diplomatic relations with 194 countries, comprehensive strategic partnerships with 37 countries, is a member of more than 70 international organizations, has trade relations with 230 countries and territories, and participates in 17 new-generation free trade agreements.

The Ambassador also said that Vietnam is implementing strong administrative reforms, merging and reducing the number of provincial-level administrative units from 63 to 34 (28 provinces and 6 centrally-run cities), and switching to a two-level local government model (province - commune). Vietnam aims to become a modern industrialized country with an upper middle income by 2030 - the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party; by 2045 - the 100th anniversary of National Day - it will rise to the ranks of developed, high-income countries.

Regarding the Vietnam-Brazil relationship, the Ambassador affirmed that despite being half a world away, the two countries share many common values of peace, independence and development. The bilateral relationship was upgraded to a Strategic Partnership at the end of 2024, opening a new turning point. He emphasized the potential for "complementary and unlimited" cooperation, aiming for a bilateral trade turnover of at least 15 billion USD by 2030. The Ambassador believes that the connection between the two peoples through cultural exchanges and sports cooperation will be the foundation to bring the bilateral relationship to new heights.
