The trip took place with many key activities in the cities of Sevilla and Barcelona, demonstrating efforts to promote bilateral economic, trade and investment cooperation. VIMC representatives actively participated in business forums, worked with port and logistics partners, to expand connectivity and seek sustainable development opportunities in the global supply chain.
At the Vietnam-Spain Business Cooperation Conference in Sevilla, Mr. Le Quang Trung emphasized the role of the seaport system in promoting trade between the two countries. He affirmed that the direct connection between Vietnamese and Spanish seaports will create a strategic driving force, helping to shorten transportation time, reduce logistics costs and improve the competitiveness of goods on both sides. Within the framework of investment cooperation, VIMC representatives called on Spanish enterprises to pay attention to the equitization process, participate in purchasing strategic shares of VIMC, contributing to making this enterprise become the leading port and logistics operator in the region.
Also here, Deputy General Director Le Quang Trung proposed promoting technical cooperation, including the transfer of modern port management technology, digital solutions and operational automation towards the “smart port” model in Vietnam. This is a strategic step of VIMC in the green transformation roadmap, in line with the sustainable development orientation that Spain is leading in this field.
The Catalonia Business Forum held in Barcelona continued to be an opportunity for VIMC representatives to expand relations and have deeper discussions with potential partners in the fields of maritime transport, logistics and human resource training. Mr. Le Quang Trung emphasized the importance of training cooperation in the digital and green transformation period. International expert exchange programs, scholarships and internships will be a practical bridge to improve the capacity of Vietnam's maritime workforce, while contributing to the standardization and internationalization of human resources in the logistics industry. During the workshop, Deputy Prime Minister Ho Duc Phoc also proposed that VIMC visit the port of Barcelona to study new cooperation opportunities.
A special highlight of the working trip was the visit and working session at the port of Barcelona, one of the largest and most modern ports in Europe. Here, Deputy Prime Minister Ho Duc Phoc and the Vietnamese business delegation were introduced to the integrated development model between seaports, railways and logistics. On this occasion, VIMC representatives presented a cooperation proposal on the development of Vietnam Logistics Centers in Spain (Vietnam House Logistics Center).
According to the proposal, VIMC wishes to cooperate with Spanish partners to develop a linked logistics model, taking advantage of the rail-road-inland waterway connection of Spanish ports to build an efficient, economical and environmentally friendly supply system. These centers will act as an extension of the Vietnamese supply chain in Europe, while taking advantage of preferential policies on taxes, fees and free trade between the two countries to promote two-way trade.
In particular, at the port of Barcelona, VIMC introduced the Port Interlink policy and technology-based market connection initiative, a new model to intelligently connect seaports, logistics centers and industrial parks. With policy support from the Government and technological support from Spanish partners, this model promises to create a breakthrough in operational efficiency and market coverage for the Vietnamese logistics system.
This working trip of Deputy Prime Minister Ho Duc Phoc not only contributes to strengthening the friendly relationship between Vietnam and Spain but also opens up many practical cooperation prospects for the business communities of the two countries. With a pioneering role in the logistics industry, VIMC continues to demonstrate its determination to deeply integrate, aiming for the position of a regional port operator, while affirming its commitment to sustainable development associated with technological innovation and the development of high-quality human resources.
