Speaking at the meeting, the Deputy Prime Minister said that OCOP products need to be recognized as national brands, not just local ones. Therefore, the organization of assessment and recognition must ensure professionalism, objectivity, interdisciplinary and consistent, and be associated with high quality standards and regulations. OCOP products with 3 stars or higher should be assessed by the provincial level. In case of decentralization to communes, localities must have their own projects.
OCOP products must carry Vietnamese brands, be protected and promoted with appropriate policies. The Ministry of Agriculture and Environment needs to promptly absorb and complete the Draft Amendment to Decision No. 148/QD-TTg dated February 24, 2023, submit it to the Prime Minister for signing and promulgation, to avoid policy gaps after implementing the 2-level local government model; at the same time, continue to coordinate with ministries, branches and localities to develop a methodical OCOP Program with a long-term vision.
