The Vietnam Volleyball Federation confirmed that the team has finalized the list of 17 members to participate in the Shanghai Future Star 2025 tournament.
The four members of the coaching staff include head of the delegation Nguyen Xuan Hoat, head coach Nguyen Thi Ngoc Hoa and two assistants Karl Lim and Nguyen Ngoc Dung.
The 13 athletes include: Bui Thi Anh Thao, Luu Thi Ly Ly, Le Thuy Linh, Vi Thi Yen Nhi, Hoang Thi Kieu Trinh, Quach Thi Luyen, Vo Thi Kim Thoa, Nguyen Thi Phuong, Pham Thi Hien, Pham Thuy Linh, Nguyen Thi Uyen, Tran Thi Bich Thuy and Nguyen Thi Ninh Anh.
This is the second consecutive year that the Vietnamese women's volleyball team has participated in the friendly tournament in Shanghai, however, compared to last year, Vietnam did not bring its strongest squad to compete. Key players of the team such as captain Thanh Thuy, Bich Tuyen, Lam Oanh, Khanh Dang, Nguyen Thi Trinh were given a rest to prepare for the two SEA V.League stages taking place in early August.
However, coach Ngoc Hoa still has quality students who performed well in both the AVC Nations Cup and VTV Cup tournaments such as Kieu Trinh, Kim Thoa, Nguyen Thi Phuong, Nguyen Thi Uyen and Tran Thi Bich Thuy.
Along with that, young athletes of the U21 team such as Anh Thao, Le Thuy Linh and Pham Thuy Linh also participated, thereby having more playing grounds to compete before competing at the U21 World Championship taking place in August in Indonesia.
A few days ago, the Shanghai Future Star 2025 organizing committee conducted the group draw ceremony. The Vietnamese team is in Group A with the Chinese U21 team, the French youth team, and the Bauru U21 Club (Brazil). Group B includes Shanghai U21, the Slovenian youth team, the Netherlands youth team, and the Canadian youth team.
The tournament will be held from July 13 to 19 at the Luwan Gymnasium in Huangpu District, Shanghai. Last year, the Vietnamese team finished 5th out of 8 participating teams.
