NEW PERSPECTIVES ON CAREER STORIES
If in the past, TV dramas were often love stories with hot scenes, third parties, jealousy, and modern love and marriage stories that were repeated over and over again, now they delve deeper into many social classes and people's fates, creating more realistic content. This is also a remarkable development in the TV drama sector with rich themes and scripts that closely follow life.

Among them, Gentle Sunshine, Rainbow on the Horizon and The Heir of the Heart of Virtue bring profound stories about workers, family love and traditional Vietnamese culture. Not only stopping at attractive characters, these films are especially impressive when they realistically exploit and respect occupations such as: workers, maids and even traditional Quang noodle makers.
In Gentle Sunshine , the status of workers and the dream of living well in a boarding house are brought to the small screen by director Bui Quoc Viet not to embellish a life of poverty but to delve into the material of real life: exhausting overtime, worries about food and clothing, and very human desires for family happiness, love, and a change of life. The character Xuan, a practical, pragmatic but good-natured girl, is typical of today's young workers: knowing how to think ahead, good at adapting, and constantly trying to improve. The film depicts workers in everyday situations to highlight valuable qualities: kindness, affection, and caring between strangers. "The subject of workers has always been an interesting area but has not been exploited much in films. During a field trip to find a topic, we had this idea and exploited it from a modern, practical perspective, closer to life", screenwriter Trinh Dan Phuong shared.
No longer "framed" as a supporting role, the maid in Rainbow on the Horizon becomes the center of the story, from action to psychology and social depth. Tuyet and Nga - two maids in two apartments of a single father and mother, not only keep the family meals "running smoothly" but also connect, soothe and heal broken relationships.
Placing the domestic worker in an important role demonstrates the new, modern thinking of the production team: seeing domestic work as no longer a "backstage" but a profession that needs to be respected. The film frankly asks the question: "Can a modern family function completely without a domestic worker?" This is a thorough, sharp look at dependence, responsibility and gratitude towards those considered to be the lower class in society. At the same time, the film does not ignore the mental pressure of those who do this job: lonely, easily overlooked, but always the ones who silently maintain the rhythm of family life. Sharing with Thanh Nien , the film's screenwriter Lai Phuong Thao affirmed: "The maid profession is a profession that is increasingly "standing" in society. Like many other professions, maids have their own stories; have their own "specialties"; have a harsh working environment and always need to make efforts to avoid being eliminated. It is a colorful miniature world , full of comedy and tragedy to exploit into film content, bringing closeness and interest to the audience."
HONOR CUISINE - TRADITIONAL CULTURE
The film The Heir of Tam Duc, broadcast on SCTV14, brought the craft of making Quang noodles and the soul of Central Vietnamese cuisine into the main story. Mr. Tam - a man who had given up his passion for making noodles to pursue business, was in crisis when he no longer had an ideal in life. At that moment, his forgotten passion returned, helping himself and the young people around him. Director Thai Trinh of the film said that the crew's desire when it comes to cuisine is to act as a bridge to convey cultural values and national traditions. "Every tourist coming to Vietnam wants to discover the uniqueness and appeal of traditional dishes. That is part of the identity that makes us special. Therefore, I always have this thought in mind: why not use the screen to contribute to preserving and spreading this quintessence? We chose the profession of making Quang noodles, a choice that is simple but contains cultural depth. Quang noodles are not only a dish, but also a national intangible cultural heritage and demonstrate the hospitality of Quang Nam people. The story in the film is not only to honor a dish, but to tell about an entire way of life," director Thai Trinh shared.

According to the director, recreating the typical living space of the Central region, especially the scene of the Quang Noodle Shop, was not an easy journey. This scene appears throughout the film, and needs to be divided into two periods: past and present. Finding, setting up the scene, and preparing props took a lot of effort and money.
In the above films, occupation is not only the background but also the lifeblood of each character. Vietnamese television dramas are showing a strong shift: taking honest labor and local culture as the core to tell kind, emotional stories. This is a positive sign that Vietnamese television dramas are increasingly sticking to life, not only for entertainment but also to honor labor, culture and kindness - things that are very Vietnamese and never old.
