Recently, Mui Lay has attracted attention on social networks when it is likened to "the hidden gem of Cua Tung sea" with a grassy area for camping and watching the sunrise. The scenery reminds visitors of the land of "yellow flowers on green grass" Phu Yen (now Dak Lak).
Mui Lay is a rocky cape that extends about 500m into the sea in Cua Tung commune, Quang Tri (formerly Vinh Moc village, Kim Thach commune, Vinh Linh district, Quang Tri province), about 7km north of Cua Tung beach.
Above Mui Lay is a flat, green lawn, below is a pure white sand beach, a black rock beach with strange and unique shapes and a vast, clear blue sea.
The grassy field at Mui Lay is an ideal camping spot with two beautiful views: One side is the vast ocean, the other side is a peaceful, rustic fishing village.
The beach here is clear blue, the waves are gentle and smooth, the white sand is long and sloping, and very clean. Local people also often come to this area to swim.
The coastal rocky beach is home to many types of snails, fish, and crabs, so visitors can experience catching seafood.
Pristine beach with white sand and clear blue water
"The road to Mui Lay is very convenient, easy to access by motorbike or car. From the rocky cape there are steps down to the beach, no need to climb or walk as far as Mui Treo.
At Mui Lay, visitors can welcome the sunrise very early with beautiful, poetic scenery and then experience many interesting activities such as visiting Vinh Moc fishing village, Vinh Moc tunnels, Mui Lay lighthouse, moving to Mui Si, Mui Treo to sightsee...
With more time, tourists can explore the Ru Linh primeval forest or the vast rubber plantations," said Ms. Le Thu Hang (40 years old, from Hung Yen) - a person working in tourism in Quang Tri.
Tourists experience the Ru Linh primeval forest or the vast rubber plantations.
To find Mui Lay on Google Maps, visitors can type "Mui Lay Lighthouse". This is a nearly 40m high lighthouse, put into operation since 1976. Sailors use Mui Lay Lighthouse to navigate, especially on foggy and stormy days.
Nowadays, visitors can enter the lighthouse to admire the vast ocean view.
"Previously, when coming to Mui Lay, tourists often only combined a visit to Vinh Moc tunnels, but Vinh Moc fishing village is also a place worth experiencing.
You can witness people going out to sea early in the morning and returning to the dock at sunset. This is where you can buy a lot of fresh seafood at 'soft' prices. The people are honest and simple," Ms. Hang shared.

Ms. Hang said that in the Mui Lay area, there are grocery stores where tourists can buy essential items. However, there are still few restaurants here, mainly local restaurants.
In the morning, visitors can find shops selling snakehead fish porridge for 20,000 VND/bowl, Quang Tri style rice rolls or sticky rice and vermicelli, all very cheap.
For more typical dishes such as turmeric noodles stir-fried with Vinh Linh offal, Bau Trang jumping shrimp salad... tourists should find a local tour guide to book in advance. Bau Trang jumping shrimp salad has been recognized by the Vietnam Record Organization as one of the 100 outstanding specialties of Vietnam.
Ms. Hang introduced Mui Lay camping site to many friends and the online community.
