Stage 'follows' music shows

It's also a performance, but the sound and lighting effects of the stage are nothing compared to music shows.

Rose petals, bright red roses gradually appeared on the LED screen of the play Tin o hoa hong , a production of "Giao thong Tao" - Meritorious Artist Chi Trung. The idea of "rose petals, roses" in Tin o hoa hong has been repeated quite a lot in many stage plays over the years. It does not evoke many emotions, nor does it make the audience exclaim because of the eye-catching and ear-pleasing effects.

The challenge of special effects, sound and lighting for drama and music theaters is extremely great. Especially in the period when music shows such as Anh trai vu ngan cong gai , Anh trai say hi and the concerts continuously show attractive effects and unique thinking. The race to convince the audience to touch the audience's wallet is clearly too unequal, in which the theater is at a disadvantage.

If epic music shows like Anh trai vu ngan cong gai , Anh trai say hi are produced very quickly and neatly to catch the effects from the program, theater programs can be slower, aiming for long-term performances. People's Artist Tong Toan Thang, Director of the Vietnam Circus Federation, shared: "In the world , Cirque du Soleil (famous for circus shows combining beautiful technology and art effects - TN ) takes 2 years to build a show with integrated technology. Artists must focus and improve more when performing with music, light, mapping...".

In addition, Mr. Thang also emphasized the artists' performance skills and interaction with technology. "If performing traditionally, artists only show off on stage. Applying technology requires double the time, interacting with sound and light precisely down to each beat," said People's Artist Tong Toan Thang. This also explains why artists who are trained in the direction of performing artists are more favorable when participating in programs that require high interaction with modern sound and light.

A stage director said that technology is money, especially money for purchasing equipment. With the current speed of development and equipment prices, performing units accept renting sound and lighting technology systems to make programs instead of buying equipment. Therefore, they really like it if the performance venue or theater has those conditions.

For example, People's Artist Tong Toan Thang said he was very happy to cooperate with the Star Theater ( Hanoi ) - which has a modern semicircular stage system, multi-layer projection technology such as transparent gauze screens, mobile panels and large LED screens. "They help the audience imagine and amplify the spread of emotions," said Mr. Thang. Besides the Vietnam Circus Federation, the Vietnam Drama Theater also cooperates to organize performances here.

However, it is impossible not to mention the design thinking of sound and light effects in addition to technical factors. Remember, when the Vietnam Drama Theater produced Shadow Puppet, the thinking of the design artists was the most important factor in creating the artistic effects of the play, with shadow and puppet performances created by art designer Ha Nguyen Long (who studied stage design in France).
