However, this time the Vietnamese team also had some changes in personnel. Before the gathering day, midfielder Doan Ngoc Tan could not participate due to a broken rib injury in the match between Thanh Hoa Club and Ha Tinh Club in round 3 of the V-League. Although his health has stabilized, the 31-year-old midfielder still could not fully recover in time to participate. In addition, Nguyen Quang Hai and Nguyen Hai Long could not participate in this gathering due to injury problems.

Both Quang Hai and Doan Ngoc Tan were pillars in winning the recent AFF Cup championship.
Opportunity for new faces
To strengthen his squad, head coach Kim Sang-sik has called up left-back Phan Du Hoc from HAGL Club. Born in 2001, Phan Du Hoc is a player who grew up in the 4th class of HAGL JMG Academy and was called up to the Vietnam U.23 team before coach Kim Sang-sik took over. In the V-League, Phan Du Hoc is an important factor for HAGL.
The Vietnam team has enough players from Hanoi Club, Hanoi Police, Ninh Binh, Nam Dinh , Ho Chi Minh City Police and HAGL. However, due to the late match between The Cong Viettel and Becamex Ho Chi Minh City, players from these two teams will join the team later on August 31, 2025.

During this training session, the Vietnamese team will play friendly matches with two domestic clubs: Hanoi Police Club on September 4 and Nam Dinh Club on September 7, 2025. These matches will be an opportunity for coach Kim Sang-sik and acting coach Dinh Hong Vinh to evaluate the team's strength and prepare for important matches in the 2027 Asian Cup qualifiers.
As coach Kim Sang-sik is busy leading the U.23 Vietnam team to participate in the 2026 AFC U.23 Championship qualifiers, the national team training will be assigned to acting coach Dinh Hong Vinh. With extensive experience at the youth and club levels, Dinh Hong Vinh will be responsible for implementing professional training plans and evaluating the abilities of each position in the squad.
Later this year and early next year, the Vietnamese team will continue their journey in the 2027 Asian Cup qualifiers against Laos, Nepal and Malaysia. The rematch with Malaysia on March 31, 2026 will attract special attention, as coach Kim Sang-sik will have to prove his ability to lead the team through the naturalization challenge of the opposing team.
The Vietnam team will host Nepal at Go Dau Stadium (HCMC) at 7:30 p.m. on October 9, 2025. On October 14, 2025, the two teams will play again in Nepal, the match time has not been determined. The Laos - Vietnam match will take place on November 18, 2025.
