Special training session of Vietnam team
On August 29, the Vietnamese team will officially gather again, led by interim coach Dinh Hong Vinh while coach Kim Sang-sik will join the Vietnamese U.23 team to gather for the official match in the qualifying round of the U.23 Asian Cup at Viet Tri Stadium.
It is expected that Coach Dinh Hong Vinh will direct the training sessions of the Vietnamese team, preparing for two friendly matches with Nam Dinh Club and Hanoi Police Club on September 4 and 7 with the goals of reviewing the force and checking new factors.
The special thing about this training session is that the Vietnamese team has many faces that have rarely or never been called up under coach Kim Sang-sik, with more than 10 names out of a total of 24 players.

Therefore, the assessments and reports of the Vietnam national team's coaching staff will be very important, so that Mr. Kim can focus fully on the U.23 Vietnam juniors but still believes that he will closely monitor the situation of the seniors in the senior team.
Mr. Kim himself has great confidence in coach Dinh Hong Vinh - the effective interim leader who helped U.23 Vietnam play impressively in the friendly tournament in China, providing many new factors that contributed greatly to the championship of the 2025 U.23 Southeast Asian Championship.
Mr. Vinh will be supported by a streamlined Vietnamese coaching staff that possesses all the necessary expertise, experience and dedication for this training session.

It is expected that the two young goalkeepers Nguyen Van Viet and Quan Van Chuan will train with Mr. Nguyen The Anh, who used to be a goalkeeper coach under coach Park Hang-seo, and possesses most of the necessary qualifications for coaching in terms of goalkeeper expertise, fitness, and football.
Even after winning the historic gold medal with the U.23 Vietnam team at the 30th SEA Games in the Philippines in 2019, this former player proactively returned to this island nation to register for an English class to serve his studies and work.
New recruit in Kim's assistant team: Coach Thanh Cong

In terms of expertise, coach Dinh Hong Vinh will have strong support from coach Nguyen Thanh Cong, former head coach of Ha Tinh Club who created the unbeaten phenomenon in V-League 2024-2025.
Mr. Nguyen Thanh Cong is a rather special case in Vietnamese football. The coach born in 1977 is from a football family, with his father being veteran coach Nguyen Thanh Vinh, who trained in the youth team and then played for the blue SLNA shirt.
In his coaching career, Mr. Cong has had special experiences that few people have when working at the top youth centers in Vietnam such as The Cong Viettel , SLNA, Da Nang, VSH (of the brothers Van Sy Hung - Van Sy Thuy, providing young players for Hanoi Club).
Thanks to that, Coach Nguyen Thanh Cong has a broader perspective than some colleagues who often stick to only one team when working as a youth team coach, receiving and filtering the advantages of each place to create what is important for himself.

This has created a very unique perspective of Coach Thanh Cong, as he is famous for taking in players who are not appreciated elsewhere and helping them unleash their potential to become good fighters at Ha Tinh Club.
Coach Thanh Cong's sharp eyes will be just right for the unique characteristics of this training session, when the Vietnamese team's coaching staff, in addition to testing familiar faces, will experiment with giving opportunities to new players, accounting for 10/24 players.
It should also be added that Coach Thanh Cong has left Ha Tinh Club to attend the AFC Pro certification course. Therefore, these FIFA Days coincide with the breaks so that he can help build up the Vietnamese team.
Hopefully, with the special team mentioned above, Coach Kim Sang-sik will be able to confidently help the Vietnam U.23 team complete the goal of finishing first in Group C to win a ticket to the 2026 AFC U.23 Championship, before receiving sharp reports on factors that may add new features to the Vietnam team.
