World Heritage Sites Hoi An and My Son officially under Da Nang, new apparatus announced

Speaking to Tuoi Tre Online on July 10, the leader of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Da Nang City said that he had just announced the apparatus of departments and public service units; and appointed leaders of affiliated and subordinate units.

Accordingly, the status quo of the units after merging the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Quang Nam province with the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Da Nang city will be accepted.

Notably, the apparatus and structure of the two world cultural heritage management units, My Son and Hoi An, have changed.

Specifically: transfer some functions and tasks from the Center for Culture, Sports and Radio and Television of Hoi An City (old) to the Center for Management and Conservation of Hoi An Cultural Heritage, to establish the Center for Conservation of Hoi An World Cultural Heritage.

Instead of managing all the heritage values ​​of Hoi An (including nearly 50 relics, pagodas, craft villages, etc.), the scope is now narrowed to zone 1, zone 2 and the buffer zone of the old town.

Ms. Truong Thi Ngoc Cam, Director of the Center for Culture, Sports, Radio and Television of Hoi An City, was appointed as Deputy Director in charge of the Hoi An World Cultural Heritage Conservation Center.

"From now on, craft villages, relics, and cultural values ​​in wards and communes in Hoi An (outside the old town) belonging to which locality will be handed over to that unit for management.

The Hoi An World Heritage Conservation Center will focus on the ancient town area, continue to maintain activities to preserve and promote heritage values, and maintain art programs on the walking street.

The units are continuing to consult on management and information with UNESCO about Hoi An's membership in the global creative network" - the leader of a unit under the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Da Nang informed.

Meanwhile, the World Cultural Heritage My Son (before July 1, under the People's Committee of Duy Xuyen district, Quang Nam province) is also officially under the management of the cultural sector of Da Nang city.

Mr. Nguyen Cong Khiet, director of the My Son Cultural Heritage Management Board, was appointed deputy director in charge.
