With this victory, the 22-year-old Spaniard extended his unbeaten streak at the grass-court Grand Slam to 20 matches, surpassing Rafael Nadal's best record at Wimbledon (19 matches).
The last time Alcaraz lost at this tournament was in 2022 – to Jannik Sinner, one of two potential opponents he will face in this year's final, alongside Novak Djokovic.
Winning is not easy
The semi-final between Alcaraz and Fritz lasted nearly three hours, full of dramatic action and point-by-point competition. Alcaraz started well, breaking early and gaining the advantage, but Fritz – with his powerful serve – was not easily defeated.
The American took the match into a tense tie-break in the fourth set, before Alcaraz capitalised on an error from his opponent to close out the match with a return that forced Fritz to miss.
Throughout the match, Alcaraz showed great resilience and adaptability. In sets 3 and 4, while Fritz continuously served out aces, Alcaraz maintained a solid defense and took full advantage of the rare opportunities to counterattack.
Two consecutive aces in set 4 and a delicate lob in the tie-break were clear proof of the class and tenacity of the player from El Palmar.
Touch history
Alcaraz is now the second Spanish player in history to reach three Wimbledon men's singles finals, after Rafael Nadal (five times).
Not only that, this is also the 6th Grand Slam final of his career - an impressive number for a player who just turned 22 a few weeks ago.
With this achievement, Alcaraz becomes:
• 14th player in the Open Era to reach at least three Wimbledon men's singles finals.
• The 10th player to reach the Wimbledon final three times in a row.
• The fourth youngest player in history (after Boris Becker, Björn Borg and Rafael Nadal) to reach three Wimbledon finals before the age of 23.
• The second-highest Spanish player in history in terms of the number of Grand Slam men's singles finals, behind only Nadal.
• 5th youngest player in the Open Era to reach more than six Grand Slam finals before the age of 23, equal to Pete Sampras and Boris Becker.
Goal: Wimbledon 'hat-trick'
After his titles in 2022 and 2023, Alcaraz is on the verge of becoming the first Spaniard to win three consecutive Wimbledon titles, a feat that even Nadal has never achieved.
His next opponents, Djokovic or Sinner, are both big challenges – but with his current form and mentality, Alcaraz can completely turn his “hat-trick” dream into reality.
