Despite his old age, the diligence and hard work are still present in the old farmer Pham Van Do (Hai Ninh commune). For many years, Mr. Do has been an active member and a typical example in the local movement of good farmers. He currently has an 18-hectare shrimp farm. In recent years, he has invested in building a 2,000m2 greenhouse to increase shrimp farming productivity. He said: Every year, I harvest about 60 tons of shrimp in 3 crops, after deducting expenses, the profit is about 1 billion VND. Mr. Do's family farm also creates jobs for nearly a dozen local workers with an income of about 8 million VND/person/month.
Mr. Pham Viet Trung (Hai Hoa commune) is also a typical example of a good farmer in production and business. He is currently the owner of a medicinal herb growing and processing facility (Morinda officinalis, Gynostemma pentaphyllum, Gymnema sylvestre, Artemisia vulgaris, Angelica sinensis, etc.) with more than 40 regular and seasonal workers. Many medicinal herbs are grown here such as Morinda officinalis, Gynostemma pentaphyllum, Gymnema sylvestre, Artemisia vulgaris, Angelica sinensis, etc. Up to now, the facility is producing 40 products, including 14 4-star OCOP products, 2 OCOP products nominated for 5 stars; revenue of 400-500 million VND/month. Mr. Trung said: "Realizing that the province has potential for developing medicinal herbs, I am determined to build a growing area, invest in a GMP-WHO standard processing factory towards commodity production. I am working with households and cooperatives to expand the medicinal herb growing area to neighboring localities".
In Trai Thu village (Binh Khe ward), Mr. Diep Van Dai is one of the examples of farmers with determination. Realizing that the 3B cow breed has outstanding productivity and meat quality, suitable for local farming conditions, Mr. Dai invested in solid barns, learned techniques from large farms in and outside the province to develop the model. From a few initial breeds, up to now, his family has maintained a herd of about 25 breeding cows, selling 15-17 commercial cows each year, earning about 500 million VND. Mr. Dai said: "I regularly participate in training courses on farming techniques organized by the locality, 3B cow farming forums online to learn more experience, and apply farming more effectively."
Behind each effective production and business model of farmers is the timely support and guidance of Party committees, authorities and political systems from the province to the grassroots. From planning mechanisms and policies to concretizing them with practical programs and projects, Quang Ninh has created a favorable environment for farmers to promote the spirit of ownership, entrepreneurship and getting rich from their homeland. Typically, Farmers' Associations at all levels play a key role in connecting and spreading the desire to get rich among farmers through organizing training courses on production techniques, supporting farmers to access preferential loans from the Farmers' Support Fund and unsecured loans from banks. Youth Unions, Women's Unions, Veterans' Associations... widely deploy emulation movements associated with household economic development, promoting the spirit of entrepreneurship and entrepreneurship among rural youth and women.
The province's specialized agencies actively implement agricultural extension programs, plan concentrated production areas, guide production processes according to VietGAP and GlobalGAP standards; orient the structure of crops and livestock suitable to local conditions and market demand; accompany farmers, from varieties, techniques to product output... Thereby helping farmers feel secure in rising up to become rich on their homeland.
