Lang Bang Communal House is an ancient architectural work, bearing many cultural and spiritual imprints, closely associated with the lives of the people of Thong Nhat commune. In 2018, Quang Ninh Museum coordinated with the University of Social Sciences and Humanities and the People's Committee of the commune to excavate the Lang Bang Communal House relic. The results at Lang Bang Communal House include various types of relics from the Tran Dynasty in the 13th-14th centuries, the Le Trung Hung Dynasty in the 17th-18th centuries and the Nguyen Dynasty in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, of which the relics from the Tran Dynasty have the largest quantity and density, and the widest distribution area. Based on the distribution of relics from the Tran Dynasty here, it can be initially determined that Lang Bang Communal House is a large-scale architectural complex built on a low hill adjacent to Cua Luc Bay with a scale of about 800-1,000m each way; the center of the architectural complex is located in the area now belonging to the campus of Lang Bang Communal House. This demonstrates the position and role of today's Thong Nhat land in history as an important gateway to Dai Viet.
On October 14, 2020, Lang Bang communal house was recognized as a historical relic, included in the list of historical - cultural relics and scenic spots of Quang Ninh province according to Decision No. 3929/QD-UBND.
However, over time, the relic has been degraded and damaged due to the impact of weather, environment and lack of conservation funds, not ensuring the religious needs of local people as well as believers from all over.
Faced with this situation, with the attention of authorities at all levels, the support of the people and Buddhists, in 2024, the People's Committee of Thong Nhat commune started the project of Restoring, embellishing and restoring Lang Bang communal house on an area of 1.5 hectares. Up to now, the restoration, embellishment and restoration project of Lang Bang communal house has completed the roofing stage and is in the finishing stage. This is an important milestone demonstrating the determination and efforts of the local government and people in preserving traditional cultural heritage.
At the seminar, scientists, experts, and managers also affirmed that the implementation of the Project to Renovate, Embellish and Restore Lang Bang Communal House is extremely correct and necessary, and there were in-depth discussions to clarify the nature, historical, cultural and architectural values of Lang Bang Communal House.
The contents of the discussions and presentations once again helped identify and affirm that Lang Bang communal house is a cultural heritage with great value in terms of history, beliefs, art and is a symbol of solidarity between traditional village communities .
At the same time, scientists, experts and managers also shared more experiences and provided suitable and feasible directions for the restoration, embellishment and conservation of Lang Bang communal house relic in particular and other relics in general in the current period.
Important contents include: Building communication products about the cultural and historical values of the communal house (documents, clips, 3D maps, photo books) to serve the promotion work; expanding the scale of cultural activities, traditional festivals and developing cultural - spiritual tourism models, community tourism associated with Lang Bang communal house; clearly identifying the main gods to be worshiped at the communal house; establishing a Steering Committee for relic conservation; having a clear coordination mechanism between all levels of government, cultural sectors and people, mobilizing active participation from socialized sources...
With a high spirit of unity, the delegates also committed to jointly implement the contents agreed upon at the seminar, aiming to gradually turn Lang Bang communal house into a typical cultural address of the commune and the province , contributing to preserving and spreading the traditional cultural values of the nation.
Speaking at the seminar, comrade Ho Ngoc Hoai, Party Secretary, Chairman of the People's Council of Thong Nhat commune, sincerely thanked and affirmed that the commune would accept the opinions of scientists and delegates attending the seminar. Organizing the seminar is a necessary and strategic step for Thong Nhat commune to continue to preserve and promote the great value of Lang Bang communal house relic. In particular, the opinions presented at the seminar play a very important role, serving as a scientific basis for the work of preserving and promoting the value of the relic, towards the sustainability of local cultural heritage. This will help the locality to more clearly define the roadmap and necessary procedures in preparing a dossier to propose the ranking of a provincial or national relic.
