In recent years, in many localities of Lam Dong, tourism has contributed significantly to changing the "face" of many rural areas, turning many rural areas with limited development conditions into "livable countryside". Tourism has contributed to preserving the values of landscape, ecology, environment, and beautiful traditional cultural identity, narrowing the gap in income and enjoyment between rural and urban people.
In Cu Jut commune, environmental protection for rural tourism development is paid great attention by the people, especially ethnic minority households. In addition to preserving and promoting traditional values, people also pay attention to keeping the surrounding environment green, clean and beautiful. Waste is collected and treated, many roads are reinforced, grass and trees are planted, and many fruit gardens are planned quite systematically.
However, in reality, in many rural areas, environmental protection and the protection of the inherent values of the environment and nature are showing many limitations. For example, violations of laws on forest protection and management, hunting of wild animals, and forest fires. Rural environmental pollution caused by household waste, hazardous waste in agricultural production, climate change causing extreme and dangerous weather patterns, etc.
This is posing many challenges for localities in the process of building new rural areas associated with developing rural tourism.
This is also the content that Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh requested localities to pay special attention to at the conference summarizing the national target program on building new rural areas nationwide at the end of June. The Prime Minister said that the environment is a difficult content and criterion of new rural areas, requiring the participation of many levels and sectors to have synchronization in planning and implementation.
The Prime Minister emphasized the general view that socio-economic development must not sacrifice the environment but must ensure harmony and sustainability, especially the rural environment because Vietnam is an agricultural country, strong in agriculture and rural areas. "The rice civilization and unique culture of Vietnam all come from the countryside and farmers, so we must protect and build a green, clean, beautiful and sustainable rural environment," the Prime Minister directed.
