Easy to "break" because of choosing the wrong major

Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Van Thuy, Head of Admissions and Communications Department - Banking University of Ho Chi Minh City, said that one should never think that admission by high school graduation is "more excellent" than other methods. The "best" is to be able to be admitted to the first choice - the highest dream choice.

As a career counselor for students, Associate Professor Thuy has noticed that many candidates only aim to get into their dream university, forgetting to choose the right major, leading to getting into the right university but with the wrong purpose. Lack of passion for the field of study can easily lead to "breaking down" halfway.

In reality, many candidates have passed the entrance exams to top universities, studied "hot" majors, but after a while, they dropped out because they lacked passion and interest in studying.

Independent candidates finish the English exam in Ho Chi Minh City. This is also the last year that independent candidates take the exam according to the 2006 General Education Program (old program).

In the 2025 high school graduation exam, Ho Chi Minh City has 99,578 candidates registered to take part, an increase of 8,891 students compared to last year. Of these, 97,940 candidates will take the exam under the 2018 General Education Program and 1,638 candidates will take the exam under the 2006 General Education Program.
