Diverse products
After the merger, Hai Phong City has 647 OCOP products, of which 8 products have achieved 5 stars (national standards), the rest are products that have achieved 4 stars and 3 stars. OCOP products focus on product groups such as agricultural products, food, technological food (confectionery), local specialties, traditional handicrafts and tourism services.
According to a representative of Quang Hai Company Limited (headquartered in Cat Hai special zone, Hai Phong city), the company currently has 16 4-star OCOP products. Previously, these OCOP products were available on the shelves of many supermarkets, stores, and markets in Hai Phong city and Hai Duong province (old). On average, the company consumes about 900,000 liters of fish sauce each year. After the merger, from the beginning of July, the company has planned to implement solutions to approach new markets. In particular, it will actively participate in trade promotion programs.
"The approach is implemented through many methods from traditional to modern such as direct trade promotion, introduction, and promotion on social networks to make many people know. Administrative merger is also a lever for OCOP entities to have the opportunity to enhance their brands," said a representative of Quang Hai Company Limited.

Mr. Dao Quang Chuyen, Chairman of the Board of Directors, Director of Hoang Giang Joint Stock Company in Thanh Dong Ward (Hai Phong City) expects the merger to open up great opportunities for businesses in general, and businesses with OCOP products in particular, because the consumption market is larger. Currently, Hoang Giang Joint Stock Company has 3 5-star OCOP products and 7 products meeting 4-star standards. After the merger of the two localities, the company immediately began to grasp and survey the development potential, and build a plan to open more agents and distributors.
According to Mr. Chuyen, the new Hai Phong City with its strong development of services and tourism is a favorable condition for businesses to expand their markets, have more partners and reach new customers. However, with many opportunities, there are also challenges, OCOP entities need to be supported to improve their adaptability. If in the past, a product could stand out within the commune and district levels, now it needs to be repositioned on a larger competitive map, where there are high demands for quality and brand. The change of administrative name does not obscure the essence of the product if OCOP entities know how to preserve the raw material area, the way of doing things and promptly adapt to changes and new markets.
Expand the market

Previously, OCOP products were often regionally specific, associated with local provincial brands, but after the merger, they have the opportunity to reach a wider market, reach a more diverse consumer network.
The new Hai Phong City currently has 342 markets, 14 shopping malls, 34 supermarkets, and thousands of small retail stores. The distribution system, retail channels, shopping malls, local e-commerce platforms, etc. have been expanded, creating conditions for OCOP products from communes and wards to be displayed on shelves at common points of sale. Thereby, products are more accessible to consumers, reducing logistics costs and opening up market connection opportunities. This is a solid foundation for OCOP products to expand their customer base.
The merger also creates conditions for OCOP trade promotion and promotion programs to be organized on a large scale. Fairs, OCOP weeks, “bringing Vietnamese goods to the countryside” programs… can be organized on a larger scale, attracting investment and better communication.
Hoang Giang Joint Stock Company has just participated in displaying and promoting products at the Hai Phong Product and Cuisine Fair (held from July 5 to 7). The fair has a scale of 40 booths from 37 enterprises and production and business establishments in the city, including OCOP products, handicrafts, food, beverages, processed agricultural, forestry and aquatic products of enterprises and production and business establishments in the new Hai Phong city.
This is the second trade promotion activity organized by the Hai Phong Department of Industry and Trade to celebrate the merger between Hai Duong province and Hai Phong city. Previously, in June 2025, the Departments of Industry and Trade of the two localities coordinated to organize a promotional week to introduce Thanh Ha litchi and typical OCOP products at Aeon Mall Hai Phong Le Chan.
If we take advantage of the opportunity to expand market space, along with reasonable support policies, OCOP products after the merger will not only retain their identity but also reach new heights, contributing to promoting and developing the economy of the new Hai Phong City.
