The meeting focused on listening to the opinions of the teams on the conditions for ensuring the training process, especially for recent changes. From there, it assessed the ability to achieve the goals at international competitions, especially the 33rd SEA Games and ASIAD 2026.
Deputy Director Nguyen Hong Minh worked with the Center's Board of Directors and the coaching staff of the teams on the afternoon of July 7.
In the report on the results of the first 6 months of 2025, Deputy Director in charge of the National High-Level Athlete Training Center Nguyen Anh Minh said: Currently, the sports teams at the Center are implementing according to plan, with stable forces, aiming for important tournaments. The Center is also organizing training for 1,002 members of 43 teams (32 national teams, 11 youth teams), aiming for the key goal of the 33rd SEA Games, held in Thailand in December 2025.
Reporting to the Deputy Director, Mr. Nguyen Anh Minh also stated: Training equipment for the teams, although deployed earlier, still does not meet the training plan of the teams. In 2026, the Center will organize a committee in charge of this task to speed up the implementation.
The provision of meals for the teams has been implemented and has brought good results. However, the implementation method still needs to be improved. Functional foods have been provided to the teams. For some teams that are training outside the Center, it is still not possible to organize their own kitchens in the new way. The Center is also having a project to repair the athletes' housing and needs to coordinate with the locality to ensure the training plan... In 2026, the Center proposed to renovate the Athletics field and renovate the shooting range into a gym.
In particular, the meeting paid close attention to the opinions of the sports being practiced here.
According to the Archery team leader: The team is practicing many sessions/day with high intensity, so the equipment, especially bows and arrows, is very quickly damaged. Previously, arrows were provided every 3 months, but now they need to be changed sooner (every 2 months). Currently, the level of Vietnamese archery athletes is much better (especially the convergence), so the arrows collide when shooting at the target, so there is a shortage of arrows, and it is impossible to organize more practice. We request that this issue be resolved urgently so that the athletes can practice more for the 33rd SEA Games, as a stepping stone towards the 2026 ASIAD. The whole team hopes to adjust the height of the target to 10m to comply with world regulations, and reduce the brightness of the training room to comply with international conditions.
Weightlifting Team: currently training according to plan, in the first 6 months of the year had stable international results, has built a plan to prepare for international competitions at the end of the year.
Karate Team: Currently implementing the plan well, achieving many positive international achievements. The team will participate in some more international competitions to evaluate the opponents at the 33rd SEA Games. Reporting to the Deputy Director, the team also proposed to be provided with equipment early (according to new regulations) so that the athletes can get acquainted... In addition, the team wishes to have a private doctor with the team from the beginning of the year (to support recovery and injury treatment) to prepare the best conditions for the 2026 ASIAD. Key athletes (2-3 athletes) should be able to participate in more international competitions. Currently, the coaching board has planned a participation plan.
With the Gymnastics team : After winning the gold medal at the World Cup, the team is focusing on the World Championships and especially the 33rd SEA Games, with the target of 2 gold medals. In the Gymnastics team, the young athletes are now at the right age and need to compete continuously to ensure the ability to develop their achievements.
Athletics Team: Propose to repair the Athletics Stadium due to its degraded quality. Upgrade the quality of the gym, especially adding specialized training equipment. Have a separate regime for key athletes. Currently, the team and the Federation are planning to hire experts for some key athletes, in some key events towards ASIAD 2026, 2030.
As for the Sepak Takraw, Women's Boxing, Jujitsu, Judo, Pencak Silat, Taekwondo, Vovinam teams, they all have the same wish to be provided with more training equipment; to go on international training courses, and participate in international tournaments to have steps to test their strength towards the 33rd SEA Games.
Training conditions and training equipment are very important factors to improve the performance of the teams.
Responding to the requests and wishes of the coaching staff of the teams, Deputy Director in charge of the Center Nguyen Anh Minh affirmed: in fact, in the past time, with issues that can be handled immediately, the functional departments have implemented. Regarding the issue of adding names to the Archery team, the Center will try to calculate a plan in which it will utilize external resources to handle this. As for the Pencak Silat scoring system, the Center cannot buy this equipment because it is not functional and the allocated funding source is also facing many difficulties....
After listening to the report from the Center's leaders, as well as the athletes' thoughts and wishes, opinions and proposals from the departments, Deputy Director Nguyen Hong Minh affirmed: The National High-Level Athlete Training Center has a leading position among the Centers. However, there are currently many difficulties and limitations due to the deterioration of facilities, training locations, physical rehabilitation facilities, etc. Therefore, in the coming time, the Center needs to adjust and re-plan the system of facilities such as: repairing the Athletics field, arranging a gym and arranging more physical rehabilitation points for athletes. Provide enough necessary training equipment for the teams; review the training effectiveness of each team, youth team, etc., develop a training plan for 2026 and the period 2026-2028 in the direction of streamlining the number of teams, the number of coaches and athletes participating in training, etc.
Deputy Director Nguyen Hong Minh especially emphasized: The Center needs to pay more attention to implementing activities of providing meals, cultural studies, and activities for athletes.
Regarding the coaching staff of the teams, Deputy Director Nguyen Hong Minh suggested: Review the athlete force, identify the causes, find solutions to overcome difficulties, ensure the best and highest quality preparation, and ensure targets at international tournaments. Develop long-term plans for athletes, especially key athletes. Coaches need to actively study and improve their qualifications to grasp the applications of science and technology (such as AI), grasp modern training trends and tendencies; build a team of coaches capable of operating independently at a high level...
The achievements of Vietnamese sports in the recent ASIAD and Olympic arenas have been very difficult. Therefore, the coaching staff of the teams must look at this reality to develop plans, optimize training efficiency, improve the achievements of each sport in particular and of Vietnamese sports in general... Deputy Director Nguyen Hong Minh affirmed.
