The Law on Social Insurance (SI) 2024 officially came into effect with many innovations and advances that are receiving special attention from the majority of people. They have high expectations and hope that the new regulations will truly come into effect, bringing practical benefits and protecting the legitimate rights of all participants.

I am over 50 years old this year but have only participated in voluntary social insurance for more than 3 years. Because I joined social insurance late, I am very worried, not knowing when I will have paid enough for 20 years to receive my pension. However, recently, the insurance collector introduced me to the new regulations of the Social Insurance Law 2024 and I am very happy.
In addition to the State's support of up to 30% for ethnic minorities, what I care about most is that now I only need to pay social insurance for 15 years and reach retirement age to receive a pension instead of having to pay for 20 years like before.
With this new policy, I can now rest assured that I will pay until I am old enough to retire without worrying about not having enough time to participate in social insurance. In particular, I do not have to worry about life when I am old because I have a pension and the State also provides me with a free health insurance card.

I was born in May 1950 and am 75 years old this year. When I heard that from July 1, 2025, I would be eligible for a social pension of 500,000 VND/month, I was very happy, because from now on, I will have a small amount every month to cover my living expenses and ease some of the burden on my children and grandchildren.
Along with that, I will be given a free health insurance card; when I unfortunately pass away, the person in charge of the funeral will also receive a one-time funeral allowance of 10 million VND. Meanwhile, in the past, old people like us had to be 80 years old to receive this allowance and the allowance was also less.
Lowering the age for receiving social pension benefits to 75 years old for those without pensions and 70 years old for those in poor households will help many elderly people like us feel relieved and not be left behind.
♦ English ( Phu Yen ward) : Motivation for young people to participate in voluntary social insurance

When knowing the information from July 1, in addition to receiving death benefits and retirement benefits, voluntary social insurance participants will also receive additional maternity benefits. Although the amount of maternity support is only 2 million VND for each birth, it is a sharing with freelance workers.
Not only that, voluntary social insurance participants also have their contribution support doubled by the State; specifically, the highest support level is 50% for poor households, and the lowest level for other subjects (not belonging to poor households, near-poor households, safe communes and ethnic minorities) is 20%, making all participants excited.
In reality, most people's lives are still difficult, their income is unstable, so it is very difficult to allocate a portion of the fund to participate in voluntary social insurance; meanwhile, the rights of participants are limited. I really hope that the Social Insurance Law 2024 coming into effect will motivate more young people to participate in voluntary social insurance, contributing to ensuring social security in the long term.
