There were 6 railway accidents, killing 4 people and injuring 1 person, down 7 accidents (53.85%), down 4 deaths (50%), down 4 injuries (80%).
There were 5 waterway accidents, killing 1 person and injuring 1 person, down 1 accident (16.67%), down 3 deaths (75%), the number of injuries remained unchanged.
There was 1 maritime incident with no deaths or injuries, down 1 incident (50%), the number of deaths and injuries remained unchanged compared to the same period in 2024.
In August 2025, the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam received 17 mandatory safety reports and 4 voluntary reports, with 6 level D incidents occurring, an increase of 2 incidents compared to the same period in 2024. The causes of the incidents were due to technical failure of the aircraft (3 incidents), human factors (pilot - 1 incident), and weather factors (2 incidents).
In the first 8 months of 2025 (from December 15, 2024 to August 14, 2025), there were 12,318 traffic accidents nationwide, killing 6,988 people and injuring 8,151 people. Compared to the same period in 2024, there was a decrease of 3,795 cases (23.55%), a decrease of 297 deaths (4.08%), and a decrease of 3,944 injuries (32.61%).
Of these, 12,209 road accidents occurred, killing 6,911 people and injuring 8,126 people. Compared to the same period in 2024, there were 3,770 fewer accidents (23.59%), 288 fewer deaths (4%), and 3,940 fewer injuries (32.65%).
There were 71 railway accidents, killing 49 people and injuring 17. Compared to the same period, there were 22 fewer accidents (23.66%), 15 fewer deaths (23.44%), and 6 fewer injuries (26.09%).
There were 34 incidents on waterways, killing 24 people and injuring 8. Compared to the same period, there was a decrease of 2 incidents (5.56%), an increase of 3 deaths (14.29%), and an increase of 2 injuries (33.33%).
There were 4 maritime incidents, killing 4 people and injuring no one, a decrease of 1 incident (20%), an increase of 3 deaths (300%), and the number of injured people remained unchanged compared to the same period last year.
According to statistics in the first 8 months of 2025 (from December 16, 2024 to August 15, 2025), the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam received 188 mandatory safety reports, 1 level B incident, 1 level C incident, 42 level D incidents and 144 level E incidents, no accidents occurred. In addition, the Authority also received 24 voluntary reports during the period.
Classified by cause, there is 1 level B incident being investigated by the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam; 20 incidents due to technical failure of the aircraft; 18 incidents due to human error (15 incidents due to crew error and 1 incident due to technical staff error, 1 incident due to crew and technical staff error, 1 incident due to ground service staff); 5 incidents due to weather factors.
