According to information from the Ho Chi Minh City Museum of History, Vietnam has 327 artifacts and groups of artifacts recognized by the Prime Minister as national treasures. Of which, Ho Chi Minh City has 17 national treasures kept in the city's museums and the private collection of Pham Gia Chi Bao (actor Chi Bao). The national treasures on display are rich in materials and ages, as well as diverse in artistic styles, belonging to many cultures. Coming to the exhibition, visitors not only have the opportunity to "go back in time" to admire the "one-of-a-kind" artifacts, but also have the opportunity to listen to the treasures "tell the story" about the extremely unique cultural identity, clearly reflected in the rich spiritual life of our ancestors. That is the identity of an agricultural culture, valuing emotions, aiming for kindness, compassion, worshiping goddesses...

Ms. Le Quyen Linh (living in Bien Hoa ward, Dong Nai province) shared: “On the weekend, my friends and I visited the Zoo in Ho Chi Minh City and stopped by the Ho Chi Minh City Museum of History, just in time for the last day of the museum's National Treasures Exhibition. I feel very lucky to have the opportunity to admire national treasures. Through viewing the artifacts and information on the QR code, I understand more about the cultural depth of our nation.”

Dong Nai Weekend respectfully introduces to our readers some artifacts at the exhibition.

Statue of Goddess Devi

The statue of goddess Devi was recognized as a national treasure in 2012. According to information from the Ho Chi Minh City Museum of History, the statue was made of sandstone, found in Huong Que - Quang Nam, the statue depicts a bust, bare chest.

According to Champa legend, goddess Devi's name is Rija Kula Hara Devi, the wife of King Indravarman II, founder of the Dong Duong dynasty (Quang Nam), 9th century. Because goddess Devi contributed to the country, especially, she had a compassionate heart, loved the poor, orphans and widows, so after her death, King Jaya Shinhavarman I deified her and built a tower to worship her.

Looking at national treasures is also a way for today's generation to reflect on the past, better understand the value of national heritage, thereby spreading awareness of protecting, preserving and promoting Vietnam's cultural treasures.
