On the morning of April 24, despite the hot weather, thousands of people flocked to Ba Dinh Square and neighboring streets such as Hung Vuong, Thanh Nien... with the hope of witnessing helicopter squadrons and fighter jets training flights to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day September 2.

This morning, the Mi, Yak-130, L-39NG, and Su-30MK2 helicopter squadrons conducted two training flights over Ba Dinh Square. Especially the moment when the helicopters raised the Party flag, the national flag, and the fighter planes performed acrobatics in the sky made many people excited and burst into tears.

Mr. Tran Duc Hai ( Hanoi ) said that because he found out that there would be a helicopter training flight this morning, he woke up very early and was at President Ho Chi Minh's Mausoleum at 7:00 a.m. to wait.

"I was surprised because this area was so crowded, maybe because it was Sunday," said Mr. Hai.

About an hour later, Mr. Hai and the people in Ba Dinh Square burst into tears when they saw helicopters flying over.

"This is a rare time I get to see fighter planes and transport planes so close," Hai continued.

In addition to watching planes, in the atmosphere of the days approaching National Day, many people in costumes filled with the red color of the national flag took the opportunity to take pictures, capturing valuable moments with relatives and friends.

"I was moved and proud to see the plane in a moment of peace . Before, my grandparents told me that whenever they heard the sound of a plane, everyone had to run away, but now it's different. When they hear the sound of a plane, everyone comes out to see. That is the sound of peace, that is the sound of happiness," said Ms. Pham Thi Ngan (Hanoi).

After the training flight, at 8pm tonight, there will be a rehearsal for the second parade to celebrate the 80th anniversary of National Day, September 2, at Ba Dinh Square.

The general training session will have about 40,000 participants, including armed forces (army, police), marching masses, standing masses, and military equipment and special vehicles.

In addition, attending the training session were armies from countries such as Russia, Laos, Cambodia...

The 8 m long cable will be fixed to the helicopter's external hook with a 120 kg counterweight, ensuring that the flag rope is tight and straight, keeping the flag flying beautifully when the helicopter flies at a speed of 80 - 120 km/hour.
