According to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, at 10:00 a.m. on August 24, storm No. 5 entered the East Sea, with the strongest winds at level 12-13 (118-149 km/h), gusting to level 15. The storm moved westward at a speed of about 20 km/h. The storm is forecast to make landfall on August 25, causing strong to extremely strong winds of level 12-13, gusting to level 15-16, waves 5-7m high, and waves near the storm's center reaching 8-9m.
Faced with the impacts of storm No. 5, the General Director of BSR requested all employees and functional departments/units to strictly comply with the Storm Prevention Guidelines; check glass door items, close and tie doors/rolling doors (if necessary), turn off all power sources, check the storage locations of records, documents... to ensure minimal damage.
The BSR General Director assigned the Environmental Safety Department to closely monitor and periodically report the developments of storm No. 5 to the Company's leaders, the Steering Committee and the functional departments/offices/units to proactively take storm prevention measures. In addition, organize waste collection and inspect the drainage system at BSR's works to ensure safety.
For the operation of Dung Quat Refinery, the General Director of BSR assigned the Production Operation Board to inspect and review the tank roof drainage system and rainwater drainage systems in the workshop. For the maintenance and repair of important equipment, there are timely response and remedial measures when incidents occur to ensure the safety of the Plant's operations. The Maintenance and Repair Board organizes inspections to ensure the safety of maintenance work at the plant, including cleaning, fixing tarpaulins, materials on high places, and insulation for maintenance.
Faced with the impacts of storm No. 5, the Port Management Board urgently informed the vessels of service contractors and partners about the storm's developments so that they could have safe anchoring and shelter plans. In addition, the Company's leaders were informed to direct the closure of the Port and stop import and export of goods if necessary. In addition, the Materials Management Board also urgently inspected the warehouses to ensure that the goods stored in the warehouse were not affected/impacted by heavy rain.
BSR Office also organized safety inspections at the Administrative Buildings/Company Headquarters, employee housing areas... Other Departments/Divisions/Sections and all employees also urgently deployed to review the status of items, works, assets, records, documents... to ensure minimizing damage caused by storms and rains.
Regarding emergency response readiness, the BSR General Director also requested the Central Oil and Gas Security Company Branch to coordinate with BSR's functional Departments/Divisions to organize on-duty and be ready for emergency response when ordered. At the same time, strengthen patrol and control work at locations to detect acts of taking advantage of storms and floods to steal and destroy the Plant's property. At the same time, fully equip means, tools and equipment for security work.
Central Petroleum Biofuel Joint Stock Company (BSR-BF) and Binh Son Petroleum Packaging and Trading Joint Stock Company (BSPPT) need to closely monitor the developments of storm No. 5 to ensure smooth communication. In addition, urgently deploy solutions to ensure safety at construction sites/factories/offices/employee dormitories.
