Da Nang destroyed more than 170 pigs infected with African swine fever in just 1 month
Hundreds of pigs tested positive for African swine fever in Da Nang, authorities took urgent action to prevent the spread of the disease, people were confused and worried.
Da Nang’s pork market is facing a serious risk of disease outbreaks. Reports from local authorities show that in just the past month, 175 pigs in Nui Thanh Commune, Da Nang City were destroyed due to testing positive for African swine fever virus. This situation is sounding the alarm bell for disease prevention.
According to records, the epidemic appeared sporadically in many villages and residential blocks such as Tho Khuong, Phai Nhon, Hoa My, An Long and residential block 5. This created a big challenge in controlling the epidemic, when the pathogen could exist in many different areas.
As soon as the epidemic was detected, the authorities of Nui Thanh commune promptly cordoned off the area, carried out disinfection and sterilization. Propaganda on epidemic prevention measures was also stepped up, encouraging people to raise awareness to protect their livestock.
At a recent meeting, the Department of Agriculture of Da Nang City requested Nui Thanh commune to complete the documents to promptly provide financial support to people who suffered losses.
At the same time, a plan for widespread disinfection and sterilization in September is being developed, with the goal of eliminating pathogens on a large scale, creating favorable conditions for livestock farmers to restore their herds as soon as possible. Slaughterhouse management is also being tightened to prevent the spread of viruses through meat products. These facilities are required to be upgraded and repaired to ensure hygiene and safety.
The African swine fever situation in Da Nang is being closely monitored. It is expected that drastic measures from the government will soon control the disease, helping people and the livestock industry overcome this difficult period.
