The Vietnamese Wushu team has just concluded an impressive journey at the 2025 Asian Cup in China, winning 2 Gold medals, 8 Silver medals and 2 Bronze medals, thus ranking 3rd overall.

The proud highlight of the Vietnamese delegation lies in the two precious gold medals in the Sanshou (combat) category. Female martial artist Nguyen Thi Thu Thuy demonstrated her skillful technique and outstanding courage when she won a convincing 2-1 victory over Zhang Xiaoyu of China in the 60kg weight class.

Her success, Nguyen Thi Ngoc Hien affirmed her position with a 2-0 victory over Chan T Continuingsz Ching of Hong Kong (China) in the women's 56kg category, bringing great pride to the country's sports .

In addition to the 2 Gold medals, Vietnamese athletes also contributed significantly to the total medal count of the delegation. Vu Van Tuan and Nguyen Thi Hien won 2 Silver medals in the Taolu (performance) category, in addition to 6 Silver medals and 2 Bronze medals from the remaining categories. Among them, Do Duc Tai was a prominent face in the Taolu category.

The Vietnamese Wushu team participated in this tournament with 19 athletes, including familiar names such as Duong Thuy Vi, Dang Tran Phuong Nhi and Nong Van Huu. Although some athletes did not win medals, they still played an important role in supporting and creating the overall achievements of the team.

The 2025 Asian Cup event marks an important milestone when Taolu is included in the official competition program for the first time, alongside Sanshou, creating more opportunities for Vietnamese martial artists to demonstrate their talents.

Team leader Vu Van Trung shared that this result is a great source of motivation for the team to prepare for upcoming major tournaments, including the 33rd SEA Games, the 2025 World Games and the 2025 World Championship.

The excellent achievements at the 2025 Asian Cup not only once again affirmed the position of Vietnamese Wushu on the regional sports map but also opened up bright prospects for greater successes in the future./.
