On August 29, within the framework of the National Achievement Exhibition, the Workshop "Vietnam - New Destination for the Future of Asian Exhibitions" took place.

Speaking at the workshop, Mr. Ho An Phong - Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism, commented: "The exhibition and fair industry has become one of the important driving forces promoting economic growth, cultural exchange and international cooperation. This is a field that directly connects businesses, markets, consumers, and is also a bridge between knowledge, technology and creativity".

According to the Deputy Minister, the exhibition industry in Vietnam not only has the main task of connecting trade, but is also closely linked to the development of cultural industries, entertainment and tourism . Exhibition events are also a space to spread cultural identity, inspire creativity, and thereby expand investment cooperation.

The Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism said that in the coming period, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism will continue to accompany businesses to implement a number of major orientations in the exhibition industry.

Accordingly, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism aims to develop the exhibition industry in association with the cultural and entertainment industry ecosystem, making exhibitions a place where creativity, art, technology and commerce converge.

Promote tourism through large-scale international tourism fairs, integrating exhibition events with promoting the image of Vietnam and its people, thereby attracting international tourists and expanding the market.

Developing modern, continental-scale exhibition centers such as the Vietnam Exhibition Center (VEC), capable of hosting international-scale events, and possessing a supporting service infrastructure system, especially in the field of MICE tourism, is considered a strategic direction to improve quality, increase value and affirm the Vietnamese tourism brand on the world map.

Promote public-private cooperation, encourage event organizing businesses, domestic and foreign investors to join the Government in building the brand "Vietnam - Asia's Exhibition Destination".

Meanwhile, Mr. Vu Ba Phu - Director of the Department of Trade Promotion (Ministry of Industry and Trade) emphasized: "Trade fairs and exhibitions are direct and effective bridges between businesses, between businesses and customers. This is also the form of trade promotion that has the fastest and most sustainable spread".

In this process, the Trade Promotion Agency always cooperates closely with domestic and foreign exhibition centers. In particular, we have a long-term and effective cooperative relationship with the Vietnam Exhibition Center (VEC) (formerly the National Exhibition and Fair Center).

According to the Trade Promotion Agency, every year, the Ministry of Industry and Trade allocates millions of USD to support industries to participate in international trade exhibitions.

In fact, domestic trade promotion activities are increasingly effective, when compared with the high cost and complexity of participating in international events abroad.

Organizing seminars and exhibitions in Vietnam not only helps domestic enterprises have the opportunity to meet international partners, but also creates conditions for many foreign enterprises to come and learn about the Vietnamese market.

In addition, accompanying service industries such as tourism, hotels, restaurants, media, advertising, etc. also benefit directly, forming an economic value chain, contributing significantly to the development of Vietnam's exhibition industry.

According to Ms. Pham Thai Ha - CEO of VEC, the establishment of the National Exhibition Fair Center (VEC) in Hanoi is considered an important milestone.

In a short time of operation, VEC has demonstrated its organizational capacity by continuously welcoming large cultural and commercial events with tens of thousands of people.

According to quick statistics, on August 28, the National Achievement Exhibition with the theme "80 years of the Journey of Independence - Freedom - Happiness" attracted a record number of visitors with about 230,000 visits on the first day alone.

It is expected that by the end of September 5, the total number of visitors could reach 1.9 million people.
