On July 8, Mr. Pham Hoang Tung, Chairman of Tam Chuc Ward ( Ninh Binh ) said that the local government had to evacuate 2 households living near the landslide area to a safe place as well as put up warning signs in the dangerous area so that people would not go near the landslide area.
Residents of Doai village, Tam Chuc ward said that recently, rocks on the mountain near the residential area have continuously collapsed, threatening the lives of the residents. Recently, a terrible landslide caused thousands of tons of rocks to fall, covering the fish pond of the residents.
Mr. Le Van Thanh (resident of Doai village) said: "Starting at 12 noon, rocks on the mountain cracked and fell down 3 large pieces causing a loud noise like a car crash, a moment later a large piece of rock weighing thousands of tons fell down shaking houses like an earthquake, accompanied by loud explosions like bombs, smoke filled the whole area".
Locals are also worried that there are still many rocks hanging and could collapse at any time. They fear that when the rocks collapse, they will scatter across the entire 21A road, endangering people and vehicles passing through the area.
On the morning of July 8, the landslide area was located near a residential area, National Highway 21A and directly affected 3-4 households living nearby.
At the scene, thousands of rocks collapsed and filled the fish pond of the people at the foot of the mountain, many large rocks weighing hundreds of tons fell and scattered all over the area, many cracks and landslides appeared on the cliff...
Mr. Pham Hoang Tung added: "We are preparing documents to report to the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Ninh Binh as well as propose resettlement for people because the above area is very dangerous."
